I am 19 years old. I was diagnosed with PCOS when i was around 14. I have always had many spall cysts. I have elevated testosterone in the 90s. I have been having a lot of pain latly. I frequently have to go to the bathroom even if a lot does not come out. I have bloating and the feeling of fullness. I have horrible pain with intercourse to the point I cant even have it. Even with my gyno exam i get swollen/bloated for the rest of the day to the point i look pregnant. also sometimes i randomly get sharp excruciating pains.

i just went to my gyno and she sent me for a u/s.. it took very long they did the normal one first then a transvaginal and then a normal one again. it took very long and the women who did the test wanted to see my doctor immeadiatly. My doctor briefly looked over the results and came out to tell me i have a 6 cm cyst.

i have nnot had a period in 7months and i am on progesterone to force one.. then i will start birth control. My doctor wants me to have 2 periods then come back and have the ultra sounds repeadted.

i also have a few swollen inguinal lymph nodes. they have been swollen over a year now. they have never been painful so they are not from infection.. not sure what to think.

could the lymph nodes mean something more than just a cyst.. i know there are some cases when the cyst are cancerous.. i know it is rare. but the tech woman was very concerned with the results and i could over hear them speaking a bit and my doctor seemed concerned as well... she is just an amazing doctor and keeps everything calm.

thanks for any help :)

  • IME docs will take a wait and see approach to cysts of that size, in the hopes that they will shrink on their own or with birth control use. The danger is if they should burst: this would manifest as extreme pain, possibly heavy bleeding and feverish symptoms. This would happen suddenly and if you experience any of these symptoms head to the ER IMMEDIATELY. Hopefully this won't happen, but thought you should know if it does - your docs should have also mentioned this to you. As for your lymph glands - do they feel hot/warm to the touch? Is this a constant sensation or does it come and go? What is your diet like? With your history I would look into food intolerances contributing to your symptoms. Lastly I suggest trying acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine to help get your periods back on track. I have treated many young women with various gynecological issues ranging from PCOS, endometriosis, amenorrhea, and infertility issues. Acupuncture and chinese herbs are especially helpful for the bloating sensations and lower abdominal cramping that occurs with ovarian cysts. I would try to find a practitioner who specializes in Women's Health. Best wishesDOM

  • thanks for responding.. my doctor did explain all of that :) my mother had a cyst the size of a grape fruit when she was around my age .. it burst and she almost died of loss of blood. but as far as my lymph nodes they are nothing to feeling not warm they dont hurt they are just lumps... its like i had do idea they were there till one night i had an itch and felt them... my parents work in the medical field and deal with cancer so they didnt like it... my gyno didnt like it... but my primary doctor said a lot of kids have them ... ii still havent met someone with them ?? but i swear something is up. as far as my diet i am pretty healthy.. i am a dancer in the city so i need to stay fit and eat right otherwise i would crash! i also have been to a nutritionist for my migraines.. i am a healthy 5'4" 135-140 pound girl :) i was also born 3 months premature .. if that says anything finally i have done accupuncture and it didnt work... and my doctor was amazing.. i did it for such a looong time and it would do anything. i also get sick very easy.. have a weak immune system... not sure if that means anything? but i know lymph nodes swell and those are always tender and painfull.. so its def not the same as my inguinal lymps thanks .. any info helps :) its much appreciated
