Starting in November of 2015, I have made a series of visits to the ER and urgent care offices. Towards the end of November I noticed that I started to have a strange amount of thick white discharge. I was away at school and didn't have a care physician out there, so I decided to head over to the ER. I had a pelvic exam and everything checked out fine, and the doctor just told me I had a minor yeast infection. I was prescribed Diflucan. The "yeast infection" improved slightly in some aspects and worsened in others. I started to have less discharge, but it became yellow and very strong smelling. This time I decided to go to an urgent care, the doctor right away suspected I had bacterial vaginosis. I was then prescribed Flagyl. The issue was still not resolved, so I returned to the urgent care a few days later, got checked out again and the doctor right away suspected that I contracted herpes. I was absolutely devastated. I was swabbed for a culture and it came back positive for herpes. I just want to know if it's possible that this is a false positive before I get my hopes up and go to my primary care physician for bloodwork?
