Lump in vagina

I have just noticed a swelling/lump at the entrace to the vagina, actually just inside of it. Its rather large and painful but fleshy hard rather than rock hard, and when I touch it it bleeds, it doesn't seem to be in the right place for a Bartholin's abscess, inside rather than outside. I've been very ill recently, swollen hard lymph node under my ear, on my jaw, nausea etc, and now chest/back pain, could this be caused by this swelling in my vagina? I get shooting pains inside of me, what could this be? Could an infection have spread throughout my body? My white blood count is high but I have only just noticed this lump so not seen a doctor yet.

  • It could be anything but sounds dangerous enough for you to seek medical attention. Syphilis comes to mind, along with other viruses. You can get free medical for STDs, at least to rule them out, at your county STD clinic. Find a doctor right away girl for the other possibilities. Yes, I think they are related.

  • I can almost definitely rule out STD's as my bf and I were both virgins when we met at 17 and we've only slept with each other in all our 8 years together. But yes I think its important I get it checked out, especially since I forgot to mention I haven't had a period since June, (but I do have PCOS).

  • I had something similar to what you are discribing many years ago...about when I was 20. It was a cyst or a hard ball that hurt everytime I had sex...felt like it would get raw...was uncomfortable to put a tampon in ect. I went to many doctors, most told me that it was in my head, they could feel it and kind of see it in me...the size of a small marble but never knew what it was or what to do for it. I finally went to the obgyn in the Houston Medical Center that was 85 yo and had actually delivered me. He diagnosised it as Gartner's duct is a potential embryological remnant in human female development of the mesonephric ducts in the development of the urinary and reproductive organs. The paired mesonephric ducts in the male, in contrast, go on to form the paired epididymis, ductus deferens, ejaculatory duct and seminal vesicle. In the female they may persist between the layers of the broad ligament of the uterus and in the wall of the vagina. These may give rise to Gartner's duct cysts. He biopsyed it and I guess that drained it. That was the last issue I ever had with it. Thank God!
