Long lasting Cough

I picked up this cough about 3 weeks ago, Doctor put me on Bactrim and it does not seem to be helping at all. Though he did mention that there is a Virus going around here in Michigan that is attacking the lungs viciously. My 2 Children also have picked up this cough(they are also on antibiotics) but it just doesn't seem to help. Also following is runny nose, phlem, headaches. We are just stacking up on vitamins, health drinks, and rest just waiting for it to go away.
