Desmoid Tumor??

I had gallbladder surgery 2 years ago. About 6 months after the surgery I started feeling as though something was pushing against the bottom of my left rib cage. It almost felt as though something was trying to get out. I spoke with my dr. about it and she could feel it but said it felt muscular. She ordered a chest x-ray and an ultrasound. Both were negative so the dr. didn't pursue it further. Now the mass has made it's way under the rib cage.

It has become quite bothersome so I went to a new dr. when my insurance changed. He appeared worried when he felt it. He described it as a superficial mass and ordered a CT scan of the abdomen and chest. (I should mention I also have several lipomas on the same side and they appeared about the same time as this mass). The insurance company wouldn't approve the CT of the abdomen but the tech was kind enough to include the region of the mass in my chest CT. After the test I asked the tech if the mass showed up and she said my CT is very asymmetrical. Needless to say, I'm worried sick and have been looking up information all over the web. The desmoid tumor has all of the characteristics of my symtpoms and makes sense since this occured after a surgery.

Has anyone had similar symptoms?

  • Hello, In regard to your post from a couple of years ago (I hope you are now doing well).....I am looking for any one that has had an abdominal desmoid tumor. Where you eventually diaganosed with an abdominal desmoid tumor? I had gallbladder surgery 2 years ago.
