Painful lump in testicle, decreased semen, possible spermatocele

My SO has always had a small strandlike bump on his testicle. He says it hurts him alot when touched (even during sex).
What concerns me the most is that it's gotten bigger the past couple of years, and hurts ALOT now. Also, his semen fluid has decreased ALOT (used to be alot, recently he has very little/almost none semen when he ejaculates), and it now hurts when he ejaculates.
He went to a highly reccommended Urologist who said it was a spermatocele, was very common, and not to worry about it until it got to be golfball size :confused:.
This just doesn't sound right to me. I did a search on the internet, and most info says spermatoceles are painless. His testicle hurts ALOT.
And if this doc is correct, is there any hope for a normal sex life again with a (painful) spermatocele??

  • Sounds like the doctor was right. Other possibility could be a Vericose vein formed around the testicle, but they are generally painless. If it has gotten noticeably bigger and more painful, he could have developed epididymitis, which is when your urine gets backed up into the wrong part of your urethra, causing a urinary-like infection. If so, antibiotics should do the trick. Either way, take him to see his GP, should know where to start after a quick check.

  • Thank you....he occasionally has dark red wine color or brown urine, so posssibly could be epididymitis as you mentioned. Is there nothing that can be done for the pain during ejaculation? He's only 52 years old, pretty sad that just 2 years ago he was OVER sexed, now he's pretty depressed that his sex life is almost non-existant.

  • i would suggest contacting a doctor immediately. If your son is having brown urine, he could be experiencing renal failure, which is a medical emergency. his only other problem could be a STD, such as hepatitis for example, which causes amber colored urine. Regardless, a doctor must be contacted. good luck.

It hurts to touch and I'm not sure what to do about it, if it doesnt get worse ill just go through the pain but I sometimes have extremely painful stinging when I urinate and that stinging lasts for hours. Some say this is caused by masturbation but I dont do that.... anyone help I've researched all over and found nothing that helped me on what to do.
