grades and stages???

Question

Yes I am wondering if any one can tell me in plain english what Genotype 1-A (I know this is the common form) grade 2 stage 2 means? Also can you be cured? Or is this something you have for the rest of your life. I have read in a couple of places that treatment can cure you. Are you cured or does it come back sometime after treatment?

I can't really tell you what the grades and stages are, but my mother was diagnoised in late 1999. She had a blood transfusion in early 80s after difficutlies during child birth. She had it for 17 years before she ever found out. She didn't ever show symptoms the only thing she had was elevated liver tests and the antibodies. She was on interferion for a little over a year and it knocked her liver tests back into the normal range. She didn't have much liver damage at all. Her doctor said that after five years with normal liver tests she would be considered "cured", but she will always have the antibodies and it is my understanding that it can return. She is living a normal life at this time.
