I don't know how severe your problems are, but if they are severe I would recommend an oral sugeon specializing in gnathology. The treatment is usually a splint during the night, but there are other options. The treatment depends on what's causing the pain (grinding teeth, arthritis etc). Good luck!

I have TMJ also and sometimes it can get downright painful. The doctors told me that they would have to break my jaw and put it back into the correct place. Didn't sound like fun so I chose not to do it. Sometimes what I do is move my jaw back and forth to make it kind of pop into the correct place where it feels a little better. Also, make sure to always try and keep your jaw relaxed. Tension makes it worse and if you are a teeth grinder, maybe the dentists have a rubber device or something you can put in your mouth at night to prevent that.
