I am a 45 WM 5'10 240lbs I have been having coughing fits for several years now. Initially symtoms were coughing, to the point of gagging and expelling clear slimy fluid, handfulls. I have have episodes while driving with blacking out as results. I have herniated a disc in my neck since. current symtoms result to a seizure type, i have uncontrolled muscle movement in arms hands and body. i have had Septom (septoplasmy) surgery in 1988, short time after had my Lingual tonsils removed as they were infected, and a Ear Fungus all the same time period. 1988-1989 This seem to be the start of the symtoms

I also note the when i itch the inside on my ear this tickles my throat and sets off coughing. I also notice I sweat profusiliy in the summer months now and have had some vision issues.

I have just mover to Ohio and will be visiting a new doctor within the next month. I am working the these seizures are causing strokes..

Please advise
thanks
Michael

  • I'm not a doctor, but a couple of things to check out:First and foremost - Acid reflux. This can be the cause of the coughing fits - the acid goes up into the esophagus and actually can burn a hole in the lining. You can have this without having any heartburn or any other symptoms. Try some over the counter Cimetidine and see if this helps to stop the coughing. Additionally, if this is the case, go see your doctor for some antibiotics in case you already do have a lesion in your esophagus. You may also be retaining too much fluid, which can cause your heart to work too hard. This results in excessive build-up of fluid and can lead to congestive heart failure. Your doctor should be able to help you with this, as well. Good luck. I'll be praying for you to be healed.

  • I almost forgot - the excessive sweating could be related to excessive carbohydrate consumption in your diet. Cut back on the carbs (just a little bit - don't go crazy with that Atkins thing).
