I am very worried about my boyfriend. For the past 2 years he's suddenly felt waves of pain in his testicle or perineum. At first they did not happen very often but lately the attacks have gotten more frequent and severe. A few months ago he went to a doctor and he just said to wear tighter underwear for more support. Well about two or three weeks ago the attacks started bringing him to his knees and the pain was more and more constant. The urologist said he had prostatitis and prescribed him antibiotics and light pain killers. He seems to have all the symptoms of it, difficulty urinating, frequent need to urinate, pain in the abdomen, testicle, and perineum. When he told the doctor he'd been having the pains for 2 years, he said it couldn't have been going on that long. A week later his pain didn't let up at all and he went to the emergency room. They did a ultra sound and urine test and found nothing wrong. Once again told him he had prostatitis. Another week goes by and his pain has still not let up. He can hardly stand it. He is going to the urologist again on Monday.

All his life he has had trouble with his health and most of the time the doctor told him it was an infection, that it shouldn't have lasted as long as it had, and sent him home with antibiotics that usually didn't help. He has had intense head aches or migraines since he was a small child. And trouble with bowel movements, either being constipated or having diarrhea. He had a colonoscopy done a few years ago and they didn't find anything. When he was little the doctors also told him that he was growing so fast that it felt like his bones were breaking and he was in a lot of pain. Which sounds like a completely insane diagnosis am I wrong? He also has very dry eyes. He was in the navy for a while a few years ago. But, had a concussion with amnesia and got out.

I don't know if any or all of these symptoms are related but I just wish we could at least know what's wrong. I wish he didn't have to wake up in pain or feeling bad all the time. He's become afraid of going to the doctor, afraid that they once again will say there's nothing wrong and send him home. He's also afraid to ask for pain meds because he doesn't want the doctor to get a bad impression since he's only in his 20's. I read that chronic prostatitis can last more than 3 months, but why hasn't his pain let up at all in weeks?
