Metallic smell in hair (6 yr old)

Question

My daughter is 6 yrs old and I noticed about 2 weeks ago that her hair has a strange smell to it. The smell was a metallic like smell. It seems to be worse when it is wet that when it is dry. I even tried different shampoos and it still smells. Her doctor is even stumped. At first my husband and I thought maybe it was our hard water but if that is the case then why is it only her hair?? Please help I am going nuts trying to figure this out. :eek:

When the hair gets wet, it smells so so bad!At frist it was not as strong as it is now. When he gets his hair cut we have to tell them about the smell . 1st person told us he had osmidrosis and to wash his hair with sulfur shampoo, 2nd person asked him  how much water he drank. His said a little( I say none)she told him he needed to drink 8 to 10 8oz glasses a day. She told him that his body was made up of mostly water and your brain needs it and if it does not have  the water it needs it starts to pull all your vitamin and minerals from the rest of your body to your brain and thats why your hair smells like minerals.( she asked me if I watch the show CSI.They can test everythingfrom your hair, like drug.)I guess that he is plain  dehydrated. She said to wash his hair with white vinegar,tomato juice or lemon juice but don't wash out the lemon juice leave it in for the day wash at night. If you know anything please help!!!

My daughter is also 6 years old and I've noticed the same problem over the last 2 weeks.  Everytime I wash her hair it smells like metal.  The metal smell is so strong you can barely smell the scent of the shampoo.  What is going on?

But it's only happened since we moved into a house with a swimming pool and we have hard water.  Her hair has also turned green (a bit) so I'm guessing chlorine damage and copper?

Regarding the metallic smell...are you using any kind of medicated shampoo?  I would definitely recommend seeing a dermatologist

I'm 15 and I have this problem too... I only noticed it very recently and only notice it at the ends of my hair when it is wet. My diet hasn't changed at all, I'm drinking the same amount of water (I drink plenty), I'm on the same medications and taking the same supplements that I have been for a very long time. I have no idea what could have changed.
