Dental Abscess after Root Canal & Crown

Hello everyone, this is my first post on this forum after some disturbing dental treatment.

About 4 months ago in November I had a difficult root canal procedure done at my dentist's partner office but my dentist was not qualified for such a difficult root canal so he referred me to his partner. He advised the walls in my teeth were constricted and that is why the procedure took over two hours. It took my dentist over a month to finally do my crown without any sort of cap ever being placed on my tooth. Finally when I did go in for the crown placement, the crown was too big for my tooth (even though they fitted me a month prior). The dentist proceeded by filling down the crown in order to fit my bite. About 3 weeks later an Abscess appeared on the side of my gums where the crown was placed. We are now in March and the Abscess is still there. I don't know what to do as I don't trust this dentist one bit anymore. As I was just there they plainly talked in front of me where they proceeded in discussing the fact that their partner who had done the root canal had gone in too deep resulted in the Abscess that I currently have. They advised I go see him in order to see if this could be fixed.

As I am unfamiliar with these procedures (I had only ever gotten a filling and wisdom teeth extraction done before) I am looking for advice on what to watch out for. I simply do not trust these dentists anymore, but do not want to leave if they can fix it. I cannot afford to pay a separate dentist the hundreds of dollars it would take to fix this at the moment, so I am hoping, doubtfully of course, that they will not rape me with the costs where a new dentist most defiantly will.

Also, I was wondering if an Abscess is common after a root canal / crown or if its mostly just the dentists fault. If someone can answer any of my questions or post advice about my situation, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
