I am not sick and for my 65 years I feel great except for some arthritis and GERD.

I was taking off my makeup a few days ago and when washing my neck received pain. Sure enough my lymph gland was swollen. I have no sore throat, no ear pain, no teeth pain and no fever. It's only painful if I touch it.
It's only one the one side of my neck, close to the front.

Should I see a Dr. or wait and see if it goes away?

  • I'm assuming that you're a lay person and not a physician. If so,you might not be able to tell if it's a lymph node or not.For example,it could be an infected salivary gland or it might be a branchial cleft cyst or infection.Whatever it is, it does not belong there,so please have it checked out unless,of course,it rapidly disappears(within a day or two).:)

The pressure was so alarming, I'd never felt such a strange sensation. Now it's been 5 days, and the lump is stilll there. It goes down in swelling but anytime I consume anything that tastes good it vivibly pops out of my neck and the left vein on the underside of m tongue grows and swells....could it be a clogged spit gland? Or an allergy? Why just the one side?

  • I had a painful swollen lymph node on the left side of my neck and I think that it is important to get it check., Because I did go and get a diagnose and I was told something that nobody would believe. Ok take a deep breath and I was told that I have Hiv and that is the reason that my neck was swollen I am so glad that I went because I am doing fine and my T-cell are very good. I think everybody on here should go to get that one test because while these doctors guessing. They will guess you into your grave but see I went with no problem and I am doing well because I went. Having HIV is not good if the problem is not caught so be smart and not scared and go just my advice to other that are worried about there body, if everybody so concern go and ask for that test because they are not going to give it to others that have to be requested. So I want everybody to be bless because by me going I am undetectable and that is good ask the doctor but if a person wait to long it can turn into AIDS so this is serious go get check and relieve the stress . Do the HIV first and if that's not what it is then fine but people don't ever be a fool Im 32 and found out this year. Im not mad im happy im still living and can live my life normal like the next person. Be bless because i am

  • Hi I just read your post I am so afriad, I topk a HIV test about a month ago and it came back negative, yet I can't help, but worry about my health. Lately I have had a sinus infection which is normal for me I have asthma. Outside of that my lymph node is swollen on the right side of my neck and my throat has been sore for at least 2 weeks. After getting over the infection my kids both had runny noses and I kiss them a lot so I thought maybe I am feeling sick and fatigued as they do. I also think the gum line around one of my teeth may be infected this can cause swollen glands. I just don't know what to do I know that you must wait 13 weeks before you recieve a clean bill and then you should take another test in about 26 weeks. I have two young children and I am worried about their future and what all this could possibly mean for us!!!!!!!!!!!I had a painful swollen lymph node on the left side of my neck and I think that it is important to get it check., Because I did go and get a diagnose and I was told something that nobody would believe.
