The rash began in the fall of 2013 and goes away when I go gluten free but I do have a never ending rash occurring on my hands no matter what I do. I have been prescribed Triamcinolone but it's going on 2 years now and I don't want to be using this stuff for the rest of my life and having to reapply it to my hands after every washing.
I am experiencing pain in what seems to be the bone of my left thumb. In addition I have night sweats and this past winter of 2014 I was hospitalized for a pericardial effusion after having chest pains. They did not think it was safe for me to take a stress test. The cardiologist and the PA said they were thoroughly puzzled as to why I would have such a serious issue with no other symptoms or signs other than some chest pain.
With regard to my pericardial effusion, my GP said "ah, it's probably because of a virus." I understand that some viruses can cause a pericardial effusion but, in light of all my other issues, no one seems to be even interested in looking more carefully. It is driving me absolutely mad because I know that some things can be undiagnosed or misdiagnosed and the time wasted cannot be reversed. Even if whatever is going on is not life threatening, it has certainly affected my quality of life for the worse.
I have a fluid filled breast cyst that was nearly 2" across, it was aspirated/drained and went down to the size of a pea. Just a few days later it went back up to a 1" inch size. I was told that it's benign but this is very concerning if not alarming to me. I think I will get it taken out but am not sure.
On another visit to the Dr. just a few days ago, I was given a sheet of paper that warns of the troubles of pre-hypertension, not TOLD, given a little print out after checking out as if this is not very important. THANKS!
My health went from good to seemingly some fresh new ***l every few months and no one can tell me why but 80% of the doctors I see make the effort to make me feel like I know NOTHING and they are the doctor, not me. Never mind the fact that I'm a Biology major who is thoroughly interested in science and medicine. Oh, and never mind the fact that I have a huge dog in this medical fight and need to know and address the causes, not just the symptoms.
I have bounced from doctor to doctor because I was not getting the help I need to address the symptoms let alone find a cause. It took me going to 6 different doctors before I even found one who had even heard of gluten rash/dermatitis herpetiformis previously. I tested negative for dermatitis herpetiformis and Celiac Disease but have also been told and have read that these tests are not always reliable. I have also been tested for Lupus and diabetes.
Some of my issues fall under non-life threatening categories but the pericardial effusion really bothers me because I understand in some cases it can be a symptom of cancer. I am looking for answers to point me in the right direction. Also, I understand that all of my issues may or may not be related and may or may not be a progression of something more serious. It's greatly appreciated if anyone can relate their experience or education on any one or any combination of these issues.
