My 10 y/o daughter diagnosed Schizoaffective disorder and OCD. In residential facility. No emotional or physical trauma. Hears people screaming and sees semitransparent one eye creatures. Sees blood. Becomes explosive, runs around, eyes sometimes deviate upward or intense frightening stare. Sometimes left eye droops along with slight left side facial droop lasting 15-30 seconds. Animals and people become larger and often seen with blood on them. She snorts her nose repeatedly. She says she has seen and heard these all her life. Threat to self and others when in disturbed state. As toddler on she would escalate in evening. Ran around in circle each night till exhausted. Could not stop her. To this day these episodes of hallucinations and intense dysregulation happen many times a day. Other times normal happy child, intelligent, but always anxious. Had vEEG under medicated conditions and MRI with full metal braces at Rush Univ. At age 8. Slowing in occipital lobe seen, but "likely attributed to pre-pubescent slowing of ??? Brain waves.
Most meds have not worked. One psychiatrist says Schizoaffective d/o but with unusual presentation. Intact personality. Early onset and severity of symptoms with no apparent cause.
Another psychiatrist suspects many "not obvious" seizures day and night, warning of brain damage with each explosive outburst. Getting neuro. Opinion at Lurie Children's Hospital in 2 weeks. Is this good enough description of symptoms? I hope I am not fooling myself and want this to be anything but severe psychiatric illness. I and others suspect something else or in addition to schizo/bipolar type. Yet, many are not convinced. Currently on Latuda, lamictal, Terazosin. Weaned down and symptoms are worsening. Please help!
