Can alcoholism be associated with joint pain and feet shuffling?

I have a brother who is currently being tested for for joint pain, swelling, extreme leg weakness, feet shuffling and several things have been ruled out. However I notice that this only appears to happen the morning after binges of drinking and his doctors are not aware of his drinking. Is anyone aware of a diagnosis associated with these symptoms and alcoholism?
