I have had hand/finger muscle cramps for years when I gripped small circumference/thin items (steering wheel of car, paper, toilet paper, etc). Fortunately these only occurred after long periods of time/hours. Now I have very severe cramps (my thumb and index finger aggressively cramp toward each other (other fingers join in sometimes) and I have to pry them apart forcefully and it is very painful. As of now I am virtually crippled, I can't even eat a meal because holding the fork causes the cramps. Happens in both hands but more in the hand I use the most. My doctor is trying medication elimination: eliminate my statin drug, my water pill, decreased my blood pressure medication (none of this is working). I have COPD, stage 3 Kidney disease, and high blood pressure. My Potassium and Phosphorus levers are in proper limits. I am waiting for results of blood test for Magnesium levels. I am trying homeopathic remedies ( Hylands Leg Cramps and Old Amish Formula but no success yet). I am going to be demanding MRI of Hands and Wrists on my next visit with a referral to Neurologist. I believe the problem is in JOINTS of thumb and fingers. Anyone with similar problems please reply. I need help. By the way I have legs cramps also but I do believe they are medication related and separate from the hand/finger cramps.Reply Follow This Thread Stop Following This Thread Flag this Discussion
