  • The abdominal distension is typical of SIBO (Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth). Basically, there is too much bacteria in the small intestine. When this bacteria is fed, it produces a lot of gas and makes you bloat. One reason for excess bacteria is a lack of stomach acid. However, if it were merely a lack of stomach acid, then you would bloat after just about any carbohydrate. It sounds like you also have a histamine or allergic reaction to the gluten that is causing the SIBO.
