I had plantar fasciitis and wore inserts, etc. prescribed by my podiatrist, then due to age, weight gain, shrinking "padding" on bottoms of my feet I apparently developed more problems. For too long I have sudden, sharp, shooting pain in my second toe on the right foot. It happens even when relaxing with my feet up. I also have a painful callus on the ball of my foot directly underneath where the toe begins at the foot. Does anyone have this problem and what did you do?? It is like someone stabbing me with a huge needle!! Any help is deeply appreciated!!

  • I'm having the same symptom and have no idea why although the plantar fasciitis may explain things. I didn't go to a doctor but was having foot pain which I'm sure was plantar fasciitis. I was bending down pulling weeds on the ball of my foot for too long. That finally got better months ago but I started getting this sharp pain on the same second toe as you described. Thought I had been stung by a wasp the first time it happened. The intense pain goes away and then my toe is fine. Really weird.
