Numb cornea and sensation that something is in eye

I had a stroke 3 months ago. The first symtom was imbalance which I thought might be vertigo. However, when I put drops in my right eye and did not feel it, I knew that something else was going on. I went to doctor, was admitted to hospital and was diagnosed with a stroke in the cerebellum. After hospital stay and rehab treatment, my balance is improving. However, my right eye is really bothering me and I have the sensation that there is something in my eye. Was told to see eye doctor. Ophthalmologist said that my cornea was numb and that with glasses my vision was good, so I did not have an eye problem. He said that I had a neurological problem. I keep drops in my eye so my eye is not dry. Has anyone had symtoms like this and if so what treatment did you receive?
