When I went to bed last night I was fine. In good general health. This morning I woke up with severe pain in my right abdomen. The pain did not get better or worse when I was sitting, standing or lying down. With the pain My head was sweating bad. I took some motrin and the pain got better but has not gone away. Now it feels like a bad pulled muscle, hurts when I breath deep but not when I cough. Any ideas??

  • I have the same problem except mine is on the left hand side. I used it get it intermittently several months ago. Went to the docs and they carried out all the usual tests (blood, urine etc) but everything came back ok. The doc said that she didnt know what was causing it and if the pain returned she would refer me to the specialist at the hospital. As fate had it, I never had the pain again until recently. The bad news, for me, is since the last time I have moved and had to move to a new doctors. Now this new doctor wants to do all his own tests! The thing is it is worse this time. I have been in pain every morning for the last 4 weeks now. Its always in the morning and passes once I get up and move about for a bit. Some days the pain is worse than others even getting so bad that it wakes me while I sleep. The funny thing is I asked the new doc what I could do to reduce/stop the pain so I wouldnt get woken through the night. His answer was "have 2 paracetamol next to the bed and take with water when it wakes me".How does that help?????

  • Hi Dave Cl,Any updates on your condition or any new diagnoses? I have been experiencing similar conditions and have been having this for 3 years now. I just believe it's gotten serious when the pain started to get more severe. I searched the web and found your thread so it would really be a great help if I can find out what's happening and hoping to skip alot of the procedures you've done and you felt didn't help at all :)Thanks! Really hoping to get a response ;)

  • Hi, Well fortunately for me the symptoms have cleared. Unfortunately there isnt any new information I can give to assit you though. The reason being is my problem stopped abrubtly one morning and has never returned. Basically, one morning I got wakened by a noise outside the house. The noise was coming from the bin lorry and I remembered I hadnt put out the bin.I quickly jumped out of bed but doing so I must have badly disturbed/upset whatever was causing my pain as when I jumped out of bed I felt like something burst in the region of the pain. Immediately the pain got worse (I never did get the bin out to the lorry) but quite quickly the pain subsided and everything was ok. Since that morning I have never experienced it again (hope I'm not jinxing myself). After doing a bit of research I felt that it was maybe a blister on one of my internal organs (kidney is what I assumed) and since bursting has never come back. I hope this information is of some use to you and if I can help anymore please let me know. Thanks,

  • If the pain is in the right upper quadrant,it could be your gallbladder or liver. If it starts radiating to your right back, that makes it more likely to be the gallbladder.

  • Hi DAve Cl, thank you for your reply. I'm glad you feel better. What happened to you was no doubt a miracle...I hope all pain can be relieved by a jolt, a fall, a sudden fright, etc....what a wonderful world this would be.My doctor gave me medication (buscopan-a pain killer) to take for 5 days. This is supposed to help them check where the pain is coming from. If i get relieved then the pain is from my intestines but if not then more tests will be done :( These are the days that i wish i can say..."I want Dr.House!"...As i searched the net last night, i saw 4 different posts from different sites that describe a very similar symptom...and what's puzzling is that there are no replies or no solutions found!!! Hmmm...Well, wish me luck! :) Thanks again.

  • hey guys. just wondering if anyone knows about a lower abdomen pain i've been experiencing for 2 months now. it's on the left side and even below my bellybutton, basically about an inch above my scrotum. i play basketball 5 or 6 times every week. and so the doctors thought i just simply strained my abdomen. well i took about a month off and nothing really got better. so i had a CT scan and an MRI b/c the doctors thought it had to be a tear. But no tear came up and they don't know what it could be?also, ever since the pain came about, my knees have seemed very weak and i have some soreness in my back once in a while. i have continued to do upper body lifting, so this might have something to do with the back pain. but any thoughts on the abdominal area that's bothering me? and do you think the knees have anything to do with the ab area??hope to get some responses. thanks a lot! really appreciate it.gf

  • There's no such thing as a blister on an internal organ.

  • LOOK UP IBS(irritable bowel syndrom). I have had the same problem for the last couple of years, first time I went to the doctors the found a cyst on my ovaries that was big enough to cause the pain, a year later I went back to the doctors and the cyst was still there but smaller (and I hadn't had any relief from the pain) so we decided to do a laparoscopic procedure to remove the cyst, they ended up removing two cysts and also called another dr to remove my appendix because they thought it looked abnormal. A week after I had a severe attack, I couldn't walk, the painkillers weren't helping at all so I had to go to the ER, they did a CT scan and everything was normal so they sent me to an gastroenterologist where they did a colonoscopy and everything looked normal(all these procedures were done with-in a 2 week period) FINALLY!!! He prescribed me some anti-spasm medicine and said I had IBS(irritable bowel syndrome) the medicine has worked pretty well but I was beginning to think he might be wrong because I still had some pain, so I decided to stop taking the anti-spasm to see if it really was helping and I found out the hard way that it helps and his diagnosis is probably correct because after one day of no meds I had a horrible night because my stomach was hurting so bad. I don't think I will stop taking the pills again they are making a big difference.

Does it get better or worse when you push on the area? If you are having vomiting or diahrea you should see your doctor right away just in case. Same thing happened to me I was fine then I woke up pain in my lower right abdomen lasted all day and wouldn't get better, kept throwing up. Finally went to the ER and had to have emergency surgery.
