  • Have you been tested for sarcoidosis? I believe this is the spelling and is pronounced sar-coy-doe-sis. Read up on this disease as your symptoms sound similar, it is an autoimmune disorder. God bless!

  • I just saw a show on the discovery channel 2-9-07 on mystery illnesses. The show was about Brian Sloane, 41, with 8 years of multiple symptoms including back, chest pain, muscle twitches, followed by knot feeling in his throat. Severe chest pain sent him to the hospital many times.A chest CAT Scan showed a mass in his chest. It was an unusally large lymph node in his chest below his esophogus (sp?) The lymph node was rock hard with Calcium. The mass was resting on his heart and many nerves. He had surgery to remove the mass and the lab results showed that he had an unusal reaction to a respitory infection called Histoplasmosis at some earlier time in his life. Once the lymph node with the Calcium was removed his symptoms went away. He was treated at the Charles F. Ketting Memorial Hospital by a surgeon named Peter M. Pablina or Pavlina. The surgeon went on to say that Calcium in the lymph nodes was usually a sign of an infection.Best wishes

  • Sarcoidosis is also linked to Lyme disease and the co-ifections. I have sarc & Lyme. Only a doc can tell you for sure. Do a search on the Marshall Protocol and check out www.lymenet.org Hope you find out, so you feel better soon.

  • I have 3 lymph nodes in my chest with pain that are shooting now. I have gone to a surgeon, a radiologist, an internist , an infectious disease specisist, and a lymph node is now in my neck that makes me feel like I am choking. I just returned from the ENT and he says it is reflux and I am positive that it is not and they are just guessing now because they are stumped. I just wondered onto the website and I am desperate!! I am 39 and a personal trainer and I have been healthy all my life. The pain and stiffness in my back is incredible!! What can I do?

  • I had enlarged lymph nodes discovered by a ct scan behind the chest wall after an auto accident. So I'm still waiting to find out whats going on, I had blood work that came back normal my doc. doesn't want to do anything invasive yet being it's only been 2 1/2 months since the accident. I have been looking and looking for some documentation that lymph nodes can be inflamed from chest trauma to ease my worry. I have no other nodes enlarged.

  • Hi, I also have several very enlarged lymph nodes in my chest (mediastinum). All the doctors I have seen so far are completely stumped! I have had a chest surgery to biopsy the lymph nodes which ruled out Lymphoma, as well as Sarcoidosis. I have had a ton of blood tests completed, including HIV, Lupus, Thyroid, Histoplasmosis, Lyme Disease, viral & bacterial infections, etc...All came back negative! I have been seen by several top doctors in NY, yet no one can figure out what is causing my lymph nodes to be so enlarged. I have no other symtpoms, besides fatigue. Has anyone on this thread found any new information regarding their symptoms? Does anyone reside in NY? I am beginning to wonder if this could be environmentally caused?

  • I was finally diagnosed with sarcoidosis after the biopsy surgury, since the surgury confirmed the lymph nodes were benign so that suggested sarcoid. but I have terrible fatigue as well, and pain in my ankles which is a symtom, my enlarged lymph nodes were discovered after my headon collision almost a year ago, and my life has not been the same since mainly because of the fatigue. They say there is no data to support sarcoid with trauma to the chest or the powder or what ever comes out of those airbags. But my lung Doctor actually said it would be an interesting study to find out if there is any connection between sarcoid and traumas, etc. Because I had none of my symtoms untill after my car wreck. And then theres the inviromental thing. I grew up in Missouri haven't lived there for 23 years, my sister still lives there and 3 weeks after my diagnosis she was diagnosed with the same thing how wierd is that, so is it inviromental???And can't there be false possitives, I had one Doctor suggest before my diagnosis maybe this is just normal for my lymph nodes, it is possible, since I had never had a chest xray before to know what was normal for me..... I had all those tests as well including luekemia (except for the HIV one). hope this helps

  • I was actually originally told it was Sarcoidosis as well. But about a week later the Pathology Dept called and said that they now were looking at the tissue more closely and that my tissue has necrotizing cells (which means cell death). In Sarcoidosis, you would have non-necrotizing cells. So this prompted them to send my tissue to DC to the Armed Forces. They came back saying they also did not think it is Sarcoidosis, but that they have no idea either what it could be. I also discovered this after falling down a flight of stairs and having xrays of my back, where they saw the enlarged lymph nodes in my chest. I always had asthma type complaints since I was about 15, shortness of breath & tightness in my chest. Doctors always just said it was asthma, but now that I have had a CT Scan of my chest, they have ruled out asthma because my lungs are completely clear. I also have had lung function tests done at a Pulmonologist, where he also said my lungs are functioning 100% normal. By the way, the lungs is a very common place for Sarcoidosis to affect. Have you been to a Pulmonologist? Do you have the granulomas in your lungs? I am just very wary of the Sarcoidosis diagnosing - because Sarcoidosis is really only diagnosed after you have ruled out everything else. I feel like maybe many doctors are just diagnosing people with Sarcoidosis beacause its just easier, but I am curious to see if the enlarged lymph nodes is a reaction to something in the environment instead. Especially since your sister has the same thing too!!! Unless whatever it is, is inherited. Have they put you on Prednisone yet? I also asked my doctors if its possible that for me its normal to just have big lymph nodes and they all laughed at that, saying no way. So, enlarged lymph nodes is definitely an indication that something is going on, its just a matter of figuring out what is causing it. I am now set up to see an Infectious Disease doctor as well as a Rheumatology doctor.

  • I have been having chest pressure and occasional pain and 4 months ago from a CT scan and looks like it is enlarged due to a cyst I've had since birth, but the doctors cannot figure out why it is beginning to bother me now. I have had CT Scans, MRIs and PET scans that have ruled out cancer, and in the past month the pressure has been coming more often and is occassionally followed by pain. After visiting with my doctor today, he told me that he could not just remove it, but could do a biopsy to see what my next step may be. He is hesitant because he is not sure why it is coming about now. I am debating whether or not to go ahead with the biopsy since the cyst has not seem to grow in size, but it is causing me more problems...Are there any cases that sound like mine? Also a year ago, I had developed a rash from a bite, and many months later, my doctor said she thought I had had lyme...not sure if this may have triggered it.

I like you never had a sick day till about 4 years ago.I have been to allot of doctors too with no answer. I have swollen and painful lymph nodes in my left breast and was told by scope last week that I have acid reflux. For four years I have believed that I have AS or Ms I at one time or another had all smyptoms of both. My sister was dignosised with fibro and chronic fatigue , this sounds horrible but I am madd because her answer came so easy , yet four years later I'm still looking for answers. I will pray for you and wish you the best if it helps any you are not alone.

  • HiI also have been diagnosed with Sarcoidosis 4 months after a fractured sternum following a car accident. injuries caused by seat belt and air bag. Doctors say there is no connection but I am not so sure. I have never really been well since the accident but also had a viral infection before the sarc diagnosis was made. I am making a full recovery though using homeopathic remedies with no drug therapy at all.SarahEngland

  • Hi, It seems I have same symptoms what you have. I'm only fatigue. went through x-ray, two times CT scan, blood test. CT scan show I have lymph nodes but no pain. now a biopsy scheduled to find out if it is Sacroydoisis or anything else..... Doctor also said it may not be even possible to find out what is wrong after biopsy so he might recomend a surgery to biopsy lymph node later. I work in NJ. Sometimes it can be becuase of Yeast so I would thing that direction to eliminate if any.

  • I feel like maybe many doctors are just diagnosing people with Sarcoidosis beacause its just easierRead more at http://forums.wrongdiagnosis.com/showthread.php?t=7627&page=2&ktrack=kcplink.I've had issues with chest pain, shortness of breath and outrageously enlarged lymph nodes in my neck and throat for almost three years now. The last round with doctors had them telling me it was likely just a simple infection (mono or something); they ran me through 5 courses of different antibiotics (10 days each) each one stronger than the last. In the end they sat and scratched their heads... they wanted to run me back to the pulmonologist and cardiologist again for the same tests I'd had a year before (everything was text-book and better than it probably should've been). The family doc insists there must be something wrong with my heart or lungs and the specialists say it's just a cold (that's lasted 3 years?)! Incidentally, I've noticed that the lymph nodes get worst when I find myself unable to get away from things I'm allergic to (like certain pollen and mildew; I live in Florida). I've asked about the correlation but the doc never acknowledges it and I have to have a referal be able to see an allergist.

I go to my docs with a serious bout of raynauds had it my life but this was the worst I've seen, he looked at my hands I had mentioned that this winter I haven't felt particularly warm and really only warm when in the shower or bed. He asked me how long had my fingernails been that way??? No splits dents cracks or bulges ok I bite them..... He then suggested some blood tests on my autoimmune system of which I now have a two week wait on. I'm 29 male mostly healthy all my life, after digging around a bit on the net, came up with only scary stuff and have found it all confusing can anyone help??Richard
