I have very loose bowel movements immediately after eating

I had my gall bladder removed 12 years ago...in the last month or so as soon as I eat (no matter what I eat) I have a loose bowel movement. Today for example, I ate pretzels at work and was in the bathroom twice. Tonight I ate a small supper and can't stay out of the bathroom. There is really not a lot of pain associated with this. Just very aggravating to not be able to eat without having to find a bathroom within 15 minutes. Any thoughts?

  • Wow, I have the same problem...I had my GB removed in 2002 and I now have IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome)...I also have Firbromyalgia which they say goes along with it...Your body is probably releasing alot of bile, since there is no longer a resevoir to hold it. My GB stones were like sand and they would clear out...I find when I have any kind of dairy I have problems...Or if I eat, I need to go. I was always what I called, "The Queen of constipation" and now I find out it is normal to go several times a day, depending on how much you eat. I heard from Dr. Oz on TV that a healthy BM is the shape of an "S" or "C" and should float. If it is pastey and drops to the bottom of the toilet, you have a sluggish intestine. So I think I am just normal now...I take 2 different meds that if you forget to take them, cause diarrhea...so this is my issue... It seems like it is just a food-in, poop-out kind of situation. Though eating a small meal or some pretzels seems extreme. Go back to to your GI guy and see what's up. You may have IBS or Diverticulitis...If there is mucous in your stool, that is a sign or DV....your intestines get seeds or grains stuck in little pockets and they become inflamed and painful. It will make you need to go each time you eat. You may need to eat more bananas and rice. That is what I do...I used to eat a banana every day, which is healthy, but I got SO sick of them...Rice is a very healthy food. I also eat all kinds of onions, raw, cooked added to my foods as they are a natural antibiotic and keeps my skin clear...Good luck!;)
