Hello all I have this spot that looks like a bruise over my spine I have no pain there and have not bumped it or anything, It is located near the T1 vertebra, It is there pretty much all the time it used to come & go & now it is just there I have had this for a good long while.

I also feel ran down at times & have other symptoms that could relate to Fibromyalgia... But the spot it's self doesn't hurt the skin feel normal like the rest of my skin it is just very dark purplish colored?

Any idea's of what this might be would be helpful I have mentioned it to my Dr and they said nothing? Just brushed it off to a possible bruise.

  • I guess if the doctors found it's nothing bad then you shouldn't worry about it, I have the same spot on my mid-back section and it appeared when I first started working out, what happens is that when I do reverse crunches that part of the spine is the point touching the floor alot so I assume that caused it for me. Maybe you've been leaning your back against something that may have caused it?

  • I have the same thing! I don't have fibromyalgia as far as I know, but I have had other health problems and they would have picked it up. I hurt my spine a few years ago, had some bulging discs.... sometime in the last few years about 7 cm diameter circular bruising has appeared between my shoulders and shoulder blade.. right on my spine. it doesnt hurt, but when people see my back, they say I am bruised...

  • Since the spot is associated with weakness, please see a doctor. Have them check your CPK levels. This could be a physical manifestation of polymiositis/dermatomyositis.
