Intestinal Lining in Stools?

I have, what I would consider to be possibly the lining from my intestines in my stools. I have cronic diarrhea caused from Crohn's and Celiac Disease... possibly more but that's all I know of for sure currently. These tube looking things range anywhere from an inch to six inches long and they're about as big around as my index finger. There is no "head or tail" on them. They just look like hollow sausage casings. They're very transparant and they float. Today I asked a doctor what it was and he replied with "In thirty years, I have never had a patient ask me that question. Its not possible to poop your guts out." He giggled then left the room. Don't I feel like an idiot now? I couldn't get out of his office quick enough. I've spent all night on the internet convinced that SOMEBODY out there has had this happen before. Now, I am just starting to think that I'm special and maybe I'm the only person out there that has this problem. If you have ANY information that could possibly help me out or even just lead in the right direction for a search, that would be fantastic!
Thanks so much!

  • I was actually just in the emergency room this past weekend for stomach pains and passing blood when I use the restroom. I don't know if you are bleeding or have bled but when I would go I would see stringy stuff which looked like it could be from my intestines. After the doctors saw me at the ER they determined that my stomach was basically peeling or bleeding or I'm not sure what because I have been taking too many harsh medicines. So I'm guessing that the stringy stuff I saw could possibly be from my stomach. Don't know if that helped or not. BTW-what your doctor said was sooo wrong. I'd be finding someone else.

  • I don't believe I'm passing any blood. Currently I have no insurance, I haven't seen a doctor or had any medication for around four years now. I asked this doctor yesterday if it was possibly the lining and his response about "pooping your guts out" was what I got. So from that, I would assume that its not possible it was the lining. I've also done searches and can't find anything about it either. I hurt so bad from eating that I only eat at night. When I wake up in the morning in horrible pain, I can run to the bathroom and camp out in there for a little while. Then I'm usually fine for the rest of the day. Once I get dinner out from the night before I'm ok until I eat again. So I normally only eat one meal a day and that's before I go to bed at night. Not sure if that has anything to do with it or not but for what its worth, those are my eating habits. Thanks for the info and I hope you get to doing better! :)

Your health issues are enough to cope with without having to deal with such nonsense. Have no fear, HE'S the idiot.I'm no doctor, but I'd guess that sufficient irritation to your gut might cause the lining to slough off. Have you been checked for parasitic infection? You certainly have an unusual situation, but I'm sure someone could explain your symptoms. Don't give up. Sorry I can't be more helpful, except to suggest that you dump that callous doctor and find a good gastroenterologist. Hope you feel better soon!

They include quite a few, so you can check out the details by searching 'Intestinal formula #2' by Dr. R. Schulze. I used it on Crohn's patients and any irritable or leaky bowel. It bulks and heals the colon.I hope to get relief, as it keeps food from absorbing, leading to weakness and other issues.

  • I have had the same thing for months. Mine started after a botched colonoscopy. I had horrific pain after the procedure and my bowels did not work without help for over a year. I now can go but have extreme pain in the morning when the fecal matter is moving through the bowel area. Once it gets past a certain point I feel better and atleast the pain is minor. My tissue matter I pass is usually 3-6 inches long, clear opaque color, and long and stringy. It has jagged edges and not the same thickness. It looks like torn flesh/tissue. It is usually about 3/8" wide. The wierd thing is that my bladder/vagina hurts and stings too as the fecal matter moves through the bowels. I have nausea and feel light headed sometimes. Many times I have to go lie down for a while and wait for the process to pass. I don't work at the present because of this and having a hysterectomy 4 months ago. It has been a miserable 19 months. I also wondered about the post about the stomach lining sloughing off. I have had ulcers and wondered about that being part of this whole thing. Don't know, but wish someone could tell all of us how to fix our ills.

  • To the original poster.. i saw things like you describe on some photos online in which were from a parasite/bowel cleanse company.. Their product helped clear coatings which build up over time and hinder absorption of things on the bowel walls (apparently parasites can hang out in such coatings that everyone has). (sorry i've forgotten where it was now so cant put the link up). The photos was of what had come out of people.. this lining and other weird things after the bowel cleanse product.

  • I have had a similar issue on and off for a while. I do not have any diagnosed issues with my intestines but every few months I will have terrible abdominal pain and diarrhea. I inspect whenever this happens now after noticing on one occasion that there was this semi-transparent tube in my stool. I have no visible bleeding but this has happened several times now and each time my intestines feel like they are on fire and there is a lot of pressure. I'm probably going to try to see a gastro rather than a general practitioner.

  • @ Anne Marie: I have the same exact symptoms and have been told i have severe IBS but i know this is not what is going on. There is way more than that. I was wondering if you have had any luck with your doctors yet and if someone has a diagnosis? I have had no luck with my doctors either. Thank you.

Did you know that one in six US adults has high cholesterol?

  • Everything you wrote about your symptoms - down to eating one meal a day at night - mirrors mine exactly. I saw a gastro today and he said because of my chronic constipation (IBS) that the intestinal walls will line themselves with mucous, and what we see coming out of us - a translucent whitish yellowish membrane like strand (I described it as a worm with its guts cut out) is only mucous. If you have constipation like me then your intestines are not contracting as they should, they are only contracting weakly. We likely have malabsorption issues, and immune system issues. Careful with painkillers they can make constipation worse, as does stress. I am wondering if 4 runs of Accutane could also be a root cause. Sorry but diet will not solve our issues... I wa told to take Miralax every day for the rest of my life. It will not do any further damage. But not taking Miralax every day WILL make my problems worse. I am having a colonoscopy next week followed by a motility test. Good luck... and no worries, its only mucous.

My body felt like I needed to throw up and have diarrhea at the same time..neither happened but this clearish tube came out with some small bits of hard stool. My intestines felt like they were bleeding or raw for hours afterward. No fever. Help!

Don't know, but wish someone could tell all of us how to fix our ills.i have the same symptoms as you and do know that i am battling a parasitic infection. i initially told a clinician/nurse and asked her if she wanted to see the pomegranate seed sized parasite i removed from the toilet water. she declined and a inquired about treatment and she told me about anti biotics that eliminate them. i requested that write me a prescription for them and she did. it was a month or two worth of pills to take daily (Flagyl Metronidazole). i was in a lot of pain during that time and would have erratic heart rate, dizziness, hot and cold flashes and heart pain. i woke up one night unconsciously saying help me! After that i stopped taking them and realized the following day that i had a very serious problem when i ate a doughnut and felt my entire stomach become bloated... The beginning of the battle that i am still fighting. anyway, if u go back to this bog site u should definitely get checked for parasites.

  • Around 5 yrs ago I shed some small intestinal lining. Three white thick and rubbery, hollow floaters. It freaked me out! I grabbed a razor and poked one of them and it was like rubber. 48 hours before I had eaten a piece of "Biko" a brown sugary and very rubbery Filipino rice cake and I could feel the actual 'pulling' and painful spot on the left side of my chest close to the center of my ribcage where the small intestine is. I've always had horrible bloating and gas and just suffered through it. I have no insurance. I now suspect i had/have Celiac disease and have to get serious about it. I've been celiac free for three wks now. My 9 month puss and bloody earache and gum pain has gone away. My second ear was starting to get infected too. The hives on my arms are slowly going away. The neuropathy and joint pain on my thighs are subsiding, my sore trunk organs aren't sore, I noticed my peeing feels firmer/can't really explain, I'm taking extra vitamins and feeling less starved and less bloated all the time. I'm more clear headed and feeling less ADD too. I'm a 41 yr old female. I also carry a sack of rocks my right side that are obviously gall stones but i can walk the treadmill whenever they cause me pain. Got to give up the dairy next! My latest symptom is a itchy chest and stomach. ???

  • I have something similar. I had heard something about one's stomach lining shedding every 7 days so I thought I'd google it. Before reading your post, I read a short blurb about the stomach's lining changing every six days. I have recently changed my diet due to extremely inflamed and painful hemorrhoids. It seemed that whatever this substance is also irritated and burned my hemorrhoids. Bottom line, I increased my fiber intake and started eating one yogurt a day in the evening. My stools have changed from expolosive to soft and solid. Whatever that lining was, is gone.

  • I have had the same problem, for four months, last time. At first I noticed hundreds of 2 to 3 inch long white worm like things in my stool, plus a white gellous looking ring with these attached to it and hundreds more in my stool. I immediately called the Doctor and took this sample in . She didn't know what it was and took stool samples to send to Lab for parasites. It came back normal no parasites. So we did it again. Same results. Still passing worm like strings. Asked what it was and was told by another Doctor same office, it was probably just the intestinal lining. Nothing else, what to do? Also during this four month period, by bowels were explosive. I went for a colonoscopy, was told it was normal except some small polops. I also gained 20 pounds in two weeks just in my abdomen, this was either not believed or not taken into consideration by my Doctors , just go to Weight watchers was said. All this eventually went away, until today it is back!

  • This is an old thread but I have been having the same thing!eww!! And I'm a nurse so let me assure you I have seen seas of poop!the only thing I had seen like it in practice was taking car of a bone marrow transplant patient who was rejecting the transplant and he was shedding the lining of his intestine. That said, I feel it could well be mucus. I also have crohns disease so when it's active, this happens. It's also accompanied by abdominal pain, diarrhea(strangely now for me a soft formed stool which is almost constipation for me),and bleeding. I now have the lovely added bonus of tenesmus..the painful urge and urge to defecate with very little oh except diarrhea o a bit of fecal flakes..jeez..nothing like being graphic about the poop!!i thought I wouldn't be so focused on poop out of the peace corps and under 90! Oh well!goes with the territory of IBD!!i haven't a clue what to do about it. I know it's not an infectious disease(bacterial) or parasites..I was tested exhaustively for weird one when I was medevaced from Africa..not a single one but like I said..yes to crohns!):

  • Wow..I was starting to think I was a freak!im a nurse and the only thing I can say is it's definitely an impression of the lumen of the intestine..now whether that's the actual lining or mucus on the lining I haven't a clue!the only time I have seen anything resembling it is when a patient sloughed off the lining of his intestine from a rejected bone marrow transplant.
