I have this urge to urinate right after urinating. The feeling lasts for about 5-10 minutes and feel normal. Family doc said I had UTI, treated and cleared. Still feel the same way. Urologist said I had prostate infection, treated and cleared. Still feel the same way. Any idea?

If you don't actually need to go physically, but have the urge to go to the loo when you are in "trapped" situations it might simply be a symptom of anxiety.

Actually, if I choose to wait and try, small amount of urine can come out intermittently and it can go on like this for 4-5 times. I can choose to ignore it but it is very uncomfortable and annoying.

  • Thanks. Actually, if I choose to wait and try, small amount of urine can come out intermittently and it can go on like this for 4-5 times. I can choose to ignore it but it is very uncomfortable and annoying.Got the same thing....I go several times a day and several times at night. I can avoid this but it means not having anything to drink all day.I constantly have the urge to go and too can squeeze out a (very) little each time.First doctor said it was psychology; he was a generalist.Second doctor said it can't be psychological because it wakes me up (from sleep) 3 times a night; also a generalist.Third doctor did an ultra sound on the bladder after I emptied it (I had to go right after emptying it but didn't) ultra sound said it was empty. He diagnosed it as "Frequent Urination" This was a Urologist. He explained that this could be caused by some basic things such as eating spicy foods, drinking soda, etc and offered to write a prescription; I declined. All doctors ran full blood work for UTI and the rest, nothing was ever found and everything is in order. No other major health problems, that I know of.I have a back problem and have a high dosage of ibuprofen 600mg; I take it seldomly. I explained to all the doctors that I have noticed when I take the ibuprofen the frequent urination goes away. I know this to be a fact because the frequent urination has been going on for 5 years and I just got the IBuprofen. When I take it I can sleep through the night as soon as I stop the frequent urination comes back and I am once again up at night. Can anyone else tell me if they had the same experience. Please keep in mind Advil 200mg and other anti-inflammatories at 200mg/400mg did not work as well as the ibuprofen 600mg.Thanks for reading.CheersJay

  • I just read your problem. i also have similar problem. I have back pain as well and I'm thinking it could be caused by the urge to urinate constantly. Tell me please if anything has changed for you.

  • There is a way to help cope with the urge, by using electrodes that sort of desensitise the bladder and stop minor urges from reaching/alerting the brain, in theory. This will help to retrain your bladder and become less sensitive to those minor bladder movements.Machines can be like this: NEUROTRAC PELVITONE - PELVIC TONERSee a physiotherapist about this!

  • I am experiencing the same EXACT thing... I'm going to try the 600mg ibuprofen, but I don't want to take it everyday. Has anyone found the cause of this or a solution?

  • Two months ago I started having urinating problems. I called the doctors office and talked with the nurse and she told me to come in and give a urine sample. The urine sample revealed no infection. The nurse then done a bladder scan and she said I have more urine in my bladder than I should. She said a catheter had to be put in so the bladder could drain.Ouch! Over he next 4 weeks a total of 4 catheters was put in and taken out.Why so many catheters?I had another catheter put in a the E/R because the doctors office was closed.I had to go back to the E/R about two weeks later complaining of abdominal pain.I thought It was my bladder, but It was just gas.The E/R nurse got a urine sample and I had uti.The E/R nurse said the catheter had to come out because of the infection. The next day I had an appointment with the doctors nurse. The nurse said the E/R should have not taken the catheter out.DUH! The urologist has not done a PSA or DRE yet.I had a DRE done but It was done by the E/R doctor. The E/R doctor said I had a normal prostate.I thought I might have an enlarged prostate causing the bladder problems, but the DRE revealed no BPH. I also have a pelvic floor problem.(Levator Syndrome).Levator Syndrome is spasms of the rectal muscles. I have heard that the spasms can cause problems with the bladder, penis, and testicles. I am having a problem with constipation.I never had a problem with constipation before the bladder problems. Can bladder problems cause constipation problems? I still have a few antibiotics left to take for the infection. I am taking Bactrin.Could this medication be causing my constipation? I also take a low dose of dilantin for seziures.I have been taking dilantin for several years and it didn't cause me any problems. All of this is very confusing and I feel bad all the time.

  • just thought I'd add to this post- to let you know that your not alone, don't worry and just keep on telling anyone who will listen - why on earth it is so frowned upon when a man has a pee problem is beyond me!! my story - nov 09 - had really bad diahorrea over a month - tests, biopsies, anti biotics - special diets etc etc problem went away eventually after about a year although now i have urinary problems, so much so that yesterday i had to miss a flight that i was stood there waiting for - just knew i wouldn't last. anxiety i hear you all cry... yes to a degree i know some of it is anxiety, but it doesnt explain why, it still wakes every other night while sleeping, and then when i am at my most happiest, after a week of being fine, under no stress and near a toilet, i get the urge to have to pee, get that slight burning and weird tummy sensation......and then it starts all over again. 20 mins/10 mins/5mins / 2mins.... and after 2 yrs of doctors / tests / drugs ..... still none the wiser!!my problem seems to be exasperated by the driving position in a car - it feels like the moment i get in and sit like that - i go from being fine to feeling bloated like after sunday dinner or 8 pints!!! its not the "trapped" bit - i even feel like that on a summers day whilst cleaning the car on the driveway!!stick at it - dont give up and keep on asking - good luck

  • In the same boat, thanks for answering my post.I thought I got rid of the UTI with the last round of antibiotics, guess not. The infection is now in the prostate and testicles. I was given a different antibiotic this time.(Cipro)I guess it take two rounds of antibiotics to completely knock out the infections. My Testicles are red and swollen and it hurts when I walk.I already have enough problems as it is without adding another problem to it.All of this is very depressing.:(

  • Hey my advise to gentlemen is simple..First and foremost make a invocation to God to help you. Indeed He has power over all things.Second I would reccomend all of you to absolutely abstain from masturbation. This is such a key point.. If you look at the cause of this problem.. The majority did not just wake up one day and had their usual morning visit to the restroom. Thereafter not being able to get rid of the urge ever since..90% of us have masturbated and have got drips/constant urges to use the restroom..So refraining the masturbation is a must. Also make lots of supplications and ask for help from God. Medicine won't do you anything , and the doctors seem confused themselves.

  • dude ., dealing with same problem.,since it has been a cople of years .,i think you are alright now.please help me.I have the same problem. It started just over amonth ago. I would need to go to the toilet three times every night, but was fine during the day. Then I started to feel the urge to go during the day. The sensation goes away after a while and I am fine, but when I Go to the toilet again, just afterwards i feel like i need to go to the toilet or that there is dribbling, yet there isnt. Doc said I could have a urine infection and gave me antibiotics as she seen traces of protein. She sent the sample away for further testing but this came back clear. After taking the antibiotics for three days the sensation went away and I didn't feel the urge to go as much. It has now been 5 days since i stopped the course of antibiotics and the feeling has come back during the day only after I have been to the toilet. I am not as bad at night as I was before the antibiotics, as I only really need to go once before bed and once during the night. It is still really annoying and uncomfortable.Anyone got any ideas?

  • I have been having this problem for a very long time.. whenever i feel the urge to urinate and do not respond to it right away, i get this very weird uncomfortable feeling after urinating. The sensation is something like when your skin is exposed to water for a very long time. That is not the worst part...after urinating, i have constant urge to pee but when i do go, it can be as little as a drop but and the sensation will still be there.... this would last several hours to a whole day... what i try to do is drink plenty or water until my bladder is full and immediately urinate and the sensation would not be there anymore..THIS IS BECOMING VERY TROUBLESOME ESPECIALLY WHEN I AM TRAVELLING. PLEASE HELP!

  • Hi all Frustrated Worried Depressed men.I am going to come right to the point, because if i wrote this in detail it would be a novel.I Suffered severe anxiety and depression for seven years. With methods i gained myself back.... (was not easy.)I started a catering business with my sister as emotions were good using tecniques I learned. After three years depression/anxiety returned....... Also Urgency to urinate(This was new).Same symptoms as almost all of you have had the unpleasent experience of. (oh yes,I had all tests known of to find the problem. No success)Had this for two years... Started antidepressiants Two years ago to help with depression. My severe anxiety was not getting better.... with research I asked my doctor if i could be prescribed Xanax, 250mcg to help.......Well,not only did it help with my severe anxiety....... It completely stopped all Symptoms of the urgency to urinate..... Just one week and it was gone..two years of suffering gone...250mcg of Xanax is the lowest dose to start with which i take..... was prescribed to take two a day but alot of times i only would take one........ I know this will help some of you,but please talk to your Doc about it.I know for sure it was the Xanax.. I stopped taking them for one and half weeks....symptoms came back..... Using the Xanax again problems stopped.Hope this helps for many of you... But remember Xanax is an addictive drug...(I have had no addictive problems..apparently some people keep wanting to up the dose) I have not felt any need to do this and I have anxiety...Please do your own research.. I was lucky but it could be a solution for some of you.Take care guys.Chooka77

  • Iodine does have prostate cancer fighting properties and your diet must contain adequate amounts of iodine. Luckily some of the natural foods we eat contain iodine like potatoes or dairy products. For better prostate health think about taking Super Beta Prostate supplement that contains many anti-oxidants.

  • I'm 15 years old and have the exact same problem. I have seen doctors and they have all gone down the UTI route which isn't what I have. I am now booked into a specialist to see if there is anything to be done. I have read elsewhere it could be prostate enlargement (usually in older men this occurs). It absolutely ruins my life and something needs to be done. I can control it sometimes, I believe stress and worrying about it does make it worse. Listening to music distracts me, which helps.
