Okay, I keep getting these weird spells of fuzziness, and tingling feelings in my arms and legs. My foot or hand will fall asleep for no reason. I get dizzy and light headed. I'll panic for no reason at all at complete random. i also tend to just stare without any thought for like five minutes at a time or give wide stares for no reason. Recently I keep getting these twitches, usually when I'm tired or relaxed, I shiver as if i'm cold, i get sometimes violent arm spasms and shuffle my feet around. I have no real control over it, I just shake and twitch for no reason out of the blue. I'm not depressed or stressed out and i'm sick of being told i'm having a panic attack when my body is telling me its something different. I have some anxiety sometimes, but thats normal for being sixteen. The twitching hase gotten more and more frequent and it's getting really weird....help! Is there something wrong with me?

Well first I would have your parnets take to see a Neurologist that would be the best thing to do .

  • Sounds like you might be having anxiety/panic attacks, but it is good to rule out other things first. Panic attacks can come on suddenly and include symptoms such as shaking, dizziness, numbness, rapid heartbeat, sweating etc. If it is panic attacks, consider yourself lucky because it's something you can learn to deal with and learn to control. I did. My best advice if it is panic attacks is to GET THERAPY. Don't rely on medicine, it may help but it's only a cover-up!! Good luck!

  • Of course you could be having panic attacks but please go to a Neurologist to rule out anything else first (make sure they do plenty of testing). The reason why I say this is because I have seen many psychologists & psychiatrists over the years & have been on almost every different kind of medicine you can think of (Prozac, Neurontin, Zeprexa, Clonazapam, Lithium, Wellbutrin, Ritalin, Risperadal & many many others) & have been told that I had everything under the sun (Bipolar, Anxiety, Borderline Personality Disorder & many many more). Many times over the past 13 years I have went off my medicines cold turkey because they were not working & I felt that there might be something more going on. I had been on medicines since I was about 19 or 20 years old. I really did believe that maybe I was a little crazy & it was all in my head. Until the past 3-4 years that is. I just found out I had Endometriosis & now I might have an autoimmune disorder on top of that (they are doing testing to figure out what is wrong). I just went to a Neurologist the other day myself because of some problems I am having in my hand too (of course I also have 2 bulging discs in my back which could be causing it but I do not know). I kept brushing it off thinking it was Carpal Tunnel. But, since I am having alot of other medical problems I thought that it might be related. The Neurologist has already advised me that it does not sound like Carpal Tunnel at all. He is going to be doing some tests on me in 2 weeks.AGAIN----PLEASE GO JUST TO BE ON THE SAFE SIDEKeep us posted

  • Yes a neurologist is a good idea, but also get yourself checked for vitamin deficiencies: there are many vitamins and minerals that will cause your symptoms if you are deficient (calcium, magnesium, b vitamins just a few). Do you drink a lot of soda? This leaches out many minerals from your body and could cause a deficiency. Many young teenage girls have shown signs of osteoporosis due to excessive soda. Something to look into.I would take a good quality multivitamin (buy one from a health food store). See if your symptoms improve.Hope this helps you.Doctor of Oriental Medicine

  • I was in the same boat as you. My leg and below my eye was twitching, I am always dizzy, my left arm would fall asleep from time to time, and my ring finger and middle toe would go numb daily. So I found out my problem. I have a sluggish thyroid. I was put on a higher dose of Sythroid, and it was way to high. It had made my thyroid do a 180. I was getting way to much thyroid now. So anyways, had to switch from the brand name to a no name brand and lower the dose a bit, and everything, except the dizziness, has gone away. You could have a hyperactive thyroid, but I don't really know if this is your problem, I have a feeling it's not. But it's best to rule it out though. Only a few blood tests needs to be done. Good luck, hope you find something out soon.

  • I was the second person that posted here. It is sad that we are all in such shape. Not really knowing what is going on half the time. It is sad that it is up to us to try to find out what is going on & what doctor to go to. I was the one who advised you to go to a Neurologist also. I do agree that vitamin deficiencies can cause these type of problems too so I also agree that you need to look into that. I also saw the last person that posted here about your thyroid. I did not want to say anything but they are right & you should look into that too. These symptoms that you are having can be a number of things. The reason why I say this is because I have the same exact symptoms that you are having (plus alot of others). They have done CT scans, Ultrasounds, Blood tests, 24 hour urine tests (for liver & kidney problems). My doctor does not know what is wrong. I am so sorry & I hope you find out what is wrong.

  • If I were you I would go see a neurologist only because it sounds to me you may be having mini-mall seizures. The twitching and what not "could" be a panic attack, but the staring off into nothing for minutes at a time is almost the definition of mini-mall. I have had grand-mall seizures and my arms will start to twitch out right before I do! Thats just my advise, good luck and be careful, a mini-mall can turn grand with no warning, like while driving?

  • i also tend to just stare without any thought for like five minutes at a time or give wide stares for no reason. Thou im no expert in panic attacks (thou i used to get them myself).. the above symptom doesnt sound like a panic one but rather something neurological. In the panic attacks Ive had.. it makes one's mind race!! not stop. Please make sure your doctor sends you to a neurologist.

  • Check with a neurologist. If you have pain on both sides of your body this condition it may be a diagnosis for fibromalgia, but I would check with a neurologist either way to figure out what is going on.Okay, I keep getting these weird spells of fuzziness, and tingling feelings in my arms and legs. Is there something wrong with me?Just an option to think about but your description of 5 minute stares is similar to a friend of mine who was diagnosed with a type of epilepsy which he now has controled with medication I believe. He didnt have the shakes etc but along with your other symptoms would suggest that you should speak to your docor who will know better. I know your fed up hearing about the panic attacks. If it was a panic attack you would feel as if you were actually dying and you would believe it to be something much worse than a panic attack. A lot of people confuse panic attacks with the much milder anxiety attack. If you arent scared at the time and can focus "calmly" on what is happening to your body at the time, I would aggree with you that you know your body best and you should speak to your doctoras all of your symptoms could fall into the wider epilepsy catagory. Good luck
