I have a pimple or cyst that keeps developing on one side of my rectum on the outside of the sphincter. Well it does get irritated or swollen, I squeeze it an puss comes put like a pimple. I have been to a colorectal specialist and he says it's just a pimple. But this thing-does not go away for years and is annoying. I did have fistula operation FYI. Before the sore/pimple gets big I do feel pain under the sphincter. What is this?
I doubt it's an STD.Is it an infected anal hair gland, if so what can I do?

  • A friend described the same recently. He admits that he thinks it's been there up to 18 months, but he ignored it until it recently became inflamed and grew considerably in size over the course of one week. He says it creates considerable pain when he has a bowel movement. He has never "popped" his. The doctor labelled it a "cyst" and didn't indicate any major concern, other than to inquire whether my friend would be open to surjery if that was the recommendation. So, one, I'm just letting you know you're not alone. I'm glad you sought out a doctor. I'm sorry this continues to be a problem for you, but I'm glad it hasn't become more serious. Second, what is "fistula surjery?" Could you describe your experience. My friend is quite worried.Third, when I had a reoccuring pimple on my face in adolescence, I kept "popping" it until I eventually and quite unexpectedly ended up with a staph infection that was way uglier and more painful. That infection could have progressed to blood poisoning or some other condition that could have threatened my life. Don't assume, just because it hasn't happened to you after all this time, that it never will.Until you find a more lasting solution, you may want to take the following precautions. Prevent the need to "pop" it and increase the sterile management of it. Use a high fiber diet (a big bowl or two of Raisin Bran daily may do), natural stool softeners, more frequent trips to the toilet (even if you don't think you have to go, you will be training your body), and moist wipes (no alcohol, but with aloe are the best). All of these will make your experience less uncomfortable. If the pimple/cyst must be "popped," have a medical professional lance it and surgically dress it if possible. If you do so yourself, apply hot compresses then use a sterile needle (hold needle in a flame, let cool, apply sanitizer gel, and rinse in hot water, and place to rest only on a piece of previously sealed sterile gauze) to create a small opening, gently apply pressure on two sides (straight down, not towards each other) with gloved or sterilized hands until the pus has drained as much as possible. Next, apply betadine (available at the drugstore, stains but doesn't burn like alcohol) with sterile hands and sterile gauze. Cover the site with sterile gauze and a waterproof bandage. Check the area with a mirror regularly and shower daily. If the bandage becomes wet, soiled or loosened, replace it. Otherwise, replace it as directed above on a daily basis. If there is no longer any weeping or discharge, you may just use a waterproof bandaid until the skin completely heals over or as ongoing protection. You may also want to let yourself air-dry in private on a regular basis, wear loose pants, and use baby powder/cornstarch to keep the area dry in general. Germs like warm, snug, dark places best.Check this advice over with a doctor. I'm only sharing from my experience and what I learned about First Aid. Good luck.

  • So I am developing something along these lines as well. I felt it before but didn't really think anything of it, then I finally bent over after a shower in the mirror and it was right in the cusp of the anus. Its not red though it's like it's stretching the skin so it's like a ****d of white. I thought it might me a pimple so I tried to pop it, and every time I tried it would move itself backwards inside my body. And the skin feels kind of thick so it seemed nearly impossible to do it by hand. So I think I'm going to go to a doctor and get it checked out. I imagine it will be kind of embarrassing explain it, but oh well.

I have been having this for about hmmmm 18 months or so. I have not been to a doctor at all on this and I know I should... I believe I suffer from a minor case of hemorrhoids as I can feel a "vein like" structure sometimes. but not and again in the same area usually after a very hot day in Phoenix and being very sweaty I will notice that I hurt in the rectal area. I have had it pop on its own so i know it is a pimple. I will probably get it looked at due to the person speaking of staph infection earlier as that is not something i want to play with AT ALL!!!.

  • I have the same problem, unfortunately most doctors dont,.. so they dismiss it as irrelevant, when all they have to say is, sit in a bucket of warm, and keep it warm!...water with or without bath salt, or hydrogen peroxide doused cotton ***** will have the same effect, try to keep the infected area moist for at least half hour or more, this will soften the outer tissue and allow an exit for the mucus to escape, after soaking, rub some cream or Vaseline to keep it moist for at least over night,. buy the next day you may notice that it may have expelled itself or is on it's way out, you can give it a helping finger tip or two to expedite the process,. The problem is there are hair follicles on your sphincter and no oxygen so they get clogged just like a regular facial pimple,..You may have to do this regularly to keep it pretty and all,.the hairs may never grow because, well our bums dont usually see much daylight let alone oxygen, but a good diet (fruit, green veggies, chicken and so on) try to stay away from high cholesterol or fat food like fast foods. Happy sitting..:)

  • I have the same problem, unfortunately most doctors dont,. they may offer quick surgical work, but that to me is unnecessary. This worked for me within 12 hours,.As dumb as it sounds, sit in a bucket of warm, warm water,. bath salt wont hurt, you can try a cotton ball doused with hydrogen peroxide for at least half hour or more, after a good cleaning, rub cream or vaseline to keep it moist for at least 12 hours, this will create a soft point for the mucus to expel itself, by the morning you may notice its gone or on it's way out, you can expedite the process by giving a helping finger or two, but dont squeeze to hard, you may have to do this for a longer period but that time range worked for me.I think the problem is that there are hairs on your sphincter and with no oxygen, they become clogged and infected, thus creating a pimple or worse a cyst like painful bump that can remain there for what may seem like years:( not fun,. until you wake one morning and find it grew twice as big,. ouch! I thought I would try this method, because years ago I chewed my finger nail to close to the edge, I dont chew my finger nails, but I had walked into a music store, picked up a guitar try to play it, and with my finger nail being to long I did a quick snip with my teeth, I also pulled a bit to much off the side, creating a bit of blood, well before I knew it,. it became infected, it swelled and hurt like ****, a week went by and lucky the dishes pilled up during that week,.. after doing the dishes I noticed my finger was not throbbing with pain, as I looked at my dish pan hands I noticed puss oozing from my finger, I squeezed it out applied hydrogen peroxide to it and vuala, it was all good instantly:)Sometimes letting the dishes pill up is not so bad,..lolLet me know if this helped you!Happy sitting!

  • It is ok to have pimples in/on your anus, everyone gets them most people don't realize them unless they get inflamed or infected. You would clean them just as you would any other pimple, if you do squeeze them make sure you do it just after a show so that the hot water softens them up and if you can do it in the shower so that you may clean the area and sterlize it. But I fair warn you, if you do not keep the area some what clean after squeezing it, it can become extremely infected.
