  • My son has also had numbness on left side of body. It travels through his body. He has difficulty with speaking, breathing etc... It lasts about 30-40 minutes. All of his tests come up normal. Have you heard anything new yet?

  • Karen-I woke up one morning about 2 mths ago and couldn't use my arm or hand on right side. I thought I had a stroke in my sleep so went to ER. They did CT scan of head which came out negative. Sent me to my neurosurgeon who did fusion surgery on my back 2 years ago and he said it was a pinched nerve in my neck. Went to PT and they did some manipulations on my neck and I can use my arm now, but hand still has some numbness and lack of strength, but that could be from CTS I have had since 2004. Has anyone mentioned a pinched nerve?

  • A test known as EEG or a test known as SPECT can show seizure damage or seizure activity. (not EKG)This doesn't mean an MRI won't, but the patient I know had normal MRI tests while experiencing very significant Schizophrenia that may turn out to be caused by "mini strokes" also called partial seizures. And you can have seziures while you sleep and not even know. We didn't know that the dizziness was actually a partial seziure. and it happened 15 minutes after meals and while stepping out of bed in the morning, it was also seen as low blood pressure. If you seen any shaking occurring during the dizziness or falling/loss of balance or shaking while falling, dont assume its just dizziness.

  • Are you on birthcontrol pills? Numbness on one side of mouth/nose. It could be caused by birthcontrol pills. From my understanding, in that case headed for stroke.

  • No, an EKG would not detect a stroke. It looks at the electrical activity of the heart only. You would need brain imaging studies for stroke. My numbness was only on my left side at first until my brain and spinal infection from Lyme disease progressed. Now I have numbness and tingling on both sides. Did they check you for Lyme with a Western Blot test (not Elisa)? My lyme specialist sees a lot of one sides numbness with lyme for some reason and I don't know why.
