I have had a yellow discharge for almost a year now. I have been treated for both a yeast infection and BV, the yellow discharge has not resolved. All STD tests and glucose levels have come back negative. I have tried changing my diet and using homeopathic remedies. This is not a normal discharge, it's too thick to be a normal change for my body. I have seen 5 different MD's and although they agree the discharge is not normal, they have no idea what is going on! Please help!

Not completely, but it wasn't so bad..Now it's bad allll over again..:( i have discharge and a uti, but they come and go at different times... none of the doctors ive been to knew what it was,Try getting a urine test done, because it might be some kind of urinary infection..I'm not sure how it's connected to discharge (it is for me), but try anyway..

  • I had this once before and my doctor gave me a strong broad spectrum antibiotic. All the tests came back negative, but the antibiotic killed it. I think it is some type of STD though, because it came back after a condom slipped off with a guy.

  • Just wondering if you have found out what is the problem? Within the last 3 months I have experienced the exact same symptoms and all my doctor keeps telling me is "your test results are negative" (for STDs, bacteria and yeast infection). I have been married for 10 years to the same guy, my diet has not changed so I have no idea what has caused this and my won't refer me to anyone else. I feel so frustrated!

  • Yes, I have also experienced this too. What my doctor said, it was a fungal infection, with itching depending on severity. It was not due to sexual transmission, though you could and can transmit the disease. Sometimes, it is caused by a change on your vaginal cleansing product. That's what happened to me. I changed my cleansing product to another brand and that was the cause of my fungal infection. Also, usage of panty shields can be a root cause of this yellow discharge.I hope this helps.

  • I have had the same problem since March. It really sucks!! I have been to the doctor about 6 times trying to find a cure for it. I have had flagyl twice, clemdemiason (misspelled?), vaginal cream, yeast infection cream, diflucan, I have take apple cider vinegar baths, etc. It's extremely frustrating!!! I have a yellowish discharge that contains no odor and it itches like crazy. I have been to two doctors and they have no idea what it is. Every test that comes back is negative and nobody can figure out what is wrong with me. My next step is to visit a "specialist" that doesn't take insurance and will cost me $1000! I'm not feeling very confident about paying that if nobody else can help me. At the moment and I doing NOTHING because that's what my doctor told me to try for a month. It's been a week and it still itches and is driving me insane! I have been with the same guy for 5 years and we haven't been intimate for like 5 months because of this issue. I know he won't mind, but I do. Please help. Has anybody found a cure for this yet???? What is it??? Thanks.

Thanks.I've been searching the web like crazy trying to figure out what in the world is wrong with me. I have a white discharge and itching and its not yeast, BV or any STD, I keep getting tested over and over at different places and they cannot figure out what is wrong with me. Because of the discharge I also have a rash (almost like diaper rash) that occurs. The only time I don't have a discharge is when I'm on my period and up to 4 days after that and then its right back to where I started from. It's thick white and paste-like with little to no odor (and I repeat it is not yeast). Man oh man being a woman is frustrating, anybody come up with a diagnosis or a remedy? I've taken antibiotics, used prescribed creams, I don't used fabric softeners, I don't used any fem products, I used dove unscented soap. I wear cotton undies. When I was having sex the discharge would be all over my guys penis (how embarrassing!!) I'm to the point where I want to lay spread eagle with a fan right in between my legs for relief!!!!

I still have the discharge but the itching seems to have gone away. I still have no idea what it is. I think I've just decided to deal with it the best I can by using panty liners. It sucks. I wish I could be normal again. It seems to go away during my period and a couple days after it shows up again just like you. I have not gone back to the doctor because I'm just tired of hearing the same thing over and over again. It's been almost 2 months since I've been to the doctor. I'm 29 years old and am wondering if maybe it's my body's way of telling me to have a baby??? At this point I would pretty much believe anything out of desperation. If I ever find out what it is, I promise I will post it back on this site because I know how frustrating it is. At this point sex is just painful for me probably because I don't have it very much anymore. Even using tampons has become painful but I endure the pain because I can't stand pads. Please let me know if you figure out what it is too. Good luck!

  • No, :D:D:D, I don't think that is the way our body tells us to have a baby.. What happens is that the typical STDs get altered, so like they become a cousin to the original, most often gonorrheal -type--these zombie-like infections can't be diagnosed by modern medical standards--they hit all the markers for gonnorrhea except one--not quite there--so, they are not responding to antibiotics, either, because they don't quite hit the spectrum. Other things are HPV and herpes, so get paps and request blood work (especially the gal with the occasional rash). What may work is taking your discharge and making a remedy out of your personal discharge by a homeopathic doctor who can do that. Make sure you see someone with a license. A lot of people call themselves doctor.Another thing may be acupuncture--it can work miracles for these untouchable discharges but be prepared for a few treatments. You may even get total relief from only one. Good luck.

Just started having discharge all the time...Never got any better...it comes and goes with the hormonal changes in my body....seems like the others say, I don't notice it right before, during, or after my period, but a few days later it starts back up again. It changes when I ovulate...sometimes I itch, and sometimes I don't.I do think pantyliners make it worse...but short of wearing tampons everyday of my life I don't know what else to do. I use organic soap, and not much of it. I'm not going to the doctor for it because I don't need some useless antibiotic....they just prescribe that stuff to make you feel better I think.I think it's got to be a normal thing if a lot of us deal with it... I have been married for almost 10 years...so I know it's not an STD or anything, and like I said, I started having it a long time ago and I wasn't in a relationship then.I guess it's just called..being a woman!!!

  • You should go to make a pap test. That is the best way to tell if you any STDs. Yelllow discharge is a sign of bv, but if yu said is negative than maybe either repeat the test, either is something else.

  • I am a 33 year old mother of four who has the same problems as everyone. what I can say is we need to check out what there using in there tampons and pads. My itch began in my first few years of me getting a period...I know, I've been dealing with that part of it for a while. But are the tampons and pads we use a sterile as you think? All of us have one thing in common; periods. I have noticed the itching is worst during and after my period. The back pain arrive a few months after I had my last child. I thought it was caused by the exercise belt I purchased at wal mart to slim my waist line. I am still unsure as to what the cause is. It comes and goes as it pleases. It seems less irritated after I have a stool. Now, the yellow discharge...I don't know. After sex I noticed a smell. The next day a yellow discharge? I went to the doctor to later receive word that all the cultures came back negative. Negative? So here I have a vaginal itch, back pain, bacteria infection and a yellow discharge with no answers why. Based on all the previous stories, everything is connected. If only someone could tell us what's going on.

  • I have the exact same problems. Thank goodness i've finally found other people in the same boat, I was starting to think it was just me! I've been dealing with this for about 6 months now; I went to the doctor and she diagnosed me with BV. Two weeks later I was back in her office only to be diagnosed with a yeast infection. I was given Flagyl and an antifungal cream. I started off with a thick, white discharge that had a bad odor after intercourse and was itchy. After taking the meds, the odor and the itching stopped, but the thick white discharge is still there! And now it has a yellowish color to it and the smell is slowly coming back. Everytime i've seen this doctor, she acts like she doesn't know what to tell me. She said that she saw these things under the microscope, so I thought that it would definitely clear up after the meds. I no longer have clear discharge like I had before and I actually feel less like a woman, if that makes any sense. Help!

  • Ok if sex and tampons are painful that is a problem. You need to continue seeking medicle treatment, sometimes just seeing a different GYN can make all the difference, sometimes one doc will have had exsperiences with things other docs haven't and therefor don't consider. Have you been checked for enometriosis? I do not believe that would cause the discharge(?) but it would explaine the pain. You can also call offices before you go and waste a copay and ask questions, even request the dr call you back and speak with you himself, if you do that it is a good idea to just explaine to the person answering his phones that you simply have something wrong with you that know one else can figure out and you wish to speak with the dr before you schedule a visit so as to see if he's a good fit. Write down questions beforehand, things like have you ever dealt with something like this before, or how would you proceed... if his answers are unsatisfactory or the same tests you done a 1000 times then cancel your apointment or whatever and move on to the next guy in the phone book. Have any of you considered the possibility of allergies? I actually thought I had herpes at one point because I didn't know I had allergies, I was getting chrinic infections, weird discharges and bumps, sometimes all at ounce sometimes seperatly, try takeing zyrtec or clariton for a few weeks ( i say weeks because your body didn't get this way in a day, if this is the issue it will take more than a day to clear up), I also suggest that since they both treat similar but also seperate allergies if one doesn't work give the other a try. Neighter are exspensive in generic form at walmart, you can get a 30 day supply of clariton there for $4. Also during this time I suggest changing everything that comes in contact, especially that part of the body to hypoallergenic. almost every major brand of detergent makes a "free and clear" version wich is generally hypoallergenic ( publix brand excluded, that stufff made me break out all over my body), and most major brands of fabric softeners are coming around and makeing free and clear versions, remember just because it says it's hypoallergenic doesn't mean it is. Does it have ANY scent added to it? If it has any scent it is NOT hypoallergenic ( fallen for that one, it was milder and better on my skin but there is nothing like truely hypoallergenic), read what comes in it, if it uses anything from plants or animals, even aloe, not hypoallergenic. If this helps start removing things or yourself from your direct environment. In my case I knew I had mild allergies to pollen ( shoot almost everyone does ) but I didn't know I was allergic to all the scents and crap they put in stuff and that because I was actually more than mildly allergic to pollen anything with plant parts ( like aloe) would set off my allergies. I also after spending a week at a friends relized I was allergic to my cats, everything at his house was the same, even the cleaning products for the house same exact brands, only differance was no animals. So I had to learn that I couldn't hang out around my house in a t-shirt and boy cut pantys, I bought somecomfy jammies, changed everything to hypoallergenic, started vacumming the floor regularly, washing the drapes and wiping down the couches and ( it's actually less work than it sounds like), I am just fine and dandy. Oh I also headed some advice I found on the internet and only use hypoallergenic soap anywhere on my body and although the um, backend gets soaped regularly, warm/hot water and a shower head is more than enough most days to clean your lady parts, it is actually not recomended by alot of GYN's to regularly use soap down there, now you do need to part of the time but say depending on your lifestyle once every week or every 2 weeks, unless you lead an incrediably dirty lifestyle is more than enough. Also baths are your vaginas enemy! I know we all love to soak in ahot bubble bath but they are SOOOOOO bad for the ph balance and not to mention all the germs that can flow right in to that open mucus membrain, I mean germs off your body from wherever you have been that day, and germs from the tub ( even if it looks clean) or trace amounts of cleaning fluids from cleaning the tub can be in your bath water and really screw things up. I rarely take baths anymore, showers are much better for ladies. For the itching go to any drugstore look in the first aid section and pick up a bottle of "dermaplast" in the BLUE can, it helps itching and pain, it's heavenly actually, a bit cold at first but it dries into kind of a powder, wich is important, moist enough for your girly parts but not wet enough to allow bacteria to grow. OH and it's safe, had a GYN recomend it to me. I do not think your body producing funny colored discharge is it's way of telling you to have a baby. IN fact I promise you that is not the case. Also remember if it's just a funny color, if you get rid of all the other symptoms and all your tests are clean, that just means your not like everybody else, big woop, we are different and nothing to worry about. Do also consider your age as well as possible hormonal side effects with age, changes in things other than food general changes in your environment can make things off. Have you had a baby? that changes your body, have you had a miscarriage or abortion? have you had any procedures done? even if this didn't start directly after a procedure it could be a hormonal upset from effects afterwards. If you research the internet there are many different vitamins you can take for hormonal balance, you may also try these. Good luck, rain

  • i have the same thing an my dr.told me that i was have a reaction to his spem .so dont know just thought i would tell u u might be his sprem if there coming in u.I just wanted to say that I've had the same symptoms as everyone else. It's not BV, Yeast, or an STD, or UTI. My Dr. told me that I was allegic to my boyfriend's sperm. We did a test to see. In the month of Dec-Jan I didnt have sex with him, and the symptoms disappeared after take the yeast infection medicine for 3 days. Then we had unprotected sex in January and sure enough a few days later I was swollen, red, kinda itchy, and the discharge! Even tho it's not a yeast infection, My Dr. prescribed me flagly to take every other day for 3 days, and it the symptoms do finally start to show improvement in 2-3 days. This has been very frustrating for me as well! So ladies, try using a condom to see if that helps! It could be a sperm allergy. I think the technical name is seminal plasma hypersensitivity.
