I've been ill for 4 1/2 months now with stomach pain, nausea, severe fatigue (i need 14 hours sleep a night and im still exhausted), feeling faint a lot, weight loss of 2 1/2 stone (35lb), weakness, loss of appetite, headaches, mucus in stool and i have low blood pressure when standing.
And i feel worse after eating fatty or greasy food or fruit juice and i've hardly been well enough to leave the house for 4 1/2 months. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong.
I've had a colonoscopy, gastroscopy, ultrasound, barium x ray, had various blood tests and my thyroid checked which all came back negative
Thanks a lot

  • I can't explain the stomach pain nor the food intolerance, but the rest of your symptoms sound like adrenal insufficiency(Addison's disease). With the mucus in your stool perhaps you have irritable bowel syndrome, which would explain the abdominal pain and negative diagnostic studies that have been done on you.Perhaps you just have simple food intolerances, too. This needs to be checked by a very good internist or an endocrinologist.:)

  • Orthostatic intolerance and POTS syndrome are some things you should research. Good Luck

  • I just researched POTS and i have all the symptoms, i'll mention it to the specialist. Thanks a lot i would never have found that. Also my celiac test was negative but i may request another test as i hadn't eaten gluten leading up to it.

  • Have you been checked for chrones disease? I've had a colonoscopy and am waiting for results from a CT scan (abdomen). If that comes back negative then it would rule out Crohn's and Ulcerative colitis.

  • 2 1/2 years ago I started having the same sypmtoms you are having - I had tons of tests done and no diagnosis. I showed negative for celiac, however, I stopped all wheat/gluten products and my stomache pain and weight loss stopped. I have a gluten sensitivity which doesn't show in tests. Also. I saw an internest and she said I had all but one symptom of Addisons disease. I was tested and it showed to be inconclusive. I would get checked for Addisons.

It is normal for ones with CFS to suffer from posteral issues (eg issues on standing with BP and heart rate) and most with CFS have low BP (86%) http://wwcoco.com/cfids/bernesx.html 45-50% of ones with CFS have a fructose intollerance with it. There is a fructose intollerance test (it's some kind of breath test to see if one is breaking the fructose down properly) done. Unfortunately as doctors dont diagnose CFS till one has had the issues for 6 mths.. unless you see a CFS specialist, you may be unable to get a diagnoses.
