  • Hey-sorry to hear. I know the pain. I've had several boils on legs, armpit, but cheek, nose, and my family/friends have had them on face, bikini area, legs, arms, butt also. I have asked doctors what is the cause. The reply, in short, was no one knows, however, spider bites and ingrown hairs (more likely if you use a razor with multiple blades) are common causes. I also have small recurring boils/infections in my nose after an (auto) accident I had in 2002. I did not fracture my nose, but was in the E.R. a couple times due to redness, swelling and infections that arose almost immediately after the accident. The E.R. physician said that these would now be recurring the rest of my life. At the same time I was volunteering at my local nursing home, and had to sign a waiver saying that I would not sue them if I was exposed to and contracted mrsa. This makes you volunerable to infections, and makes it difficult to heal. This is more common in small children and the elderly. I was 21 at the time, and still don't know which of these two things caused my painful, now lifetime symptoms. My suggestion to you is to not squeeze them like a pimple. Disinfect your hands, and swipe them with a q-tip wet with rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide. I've noticed they go away faster. As for antibiotics, they're not a lifetime solution, you may even become immune. My last piece of advice would be to nip them in the bud. Don't let them fester for fear of the pain. Do you use nose clippers, or anything else that could be introducing bacteria into your nostrils? Could also be ingrown hairs, if you do. Use the rubbing alcohol solution a few times a day as a preventitive measure. Seek different medical opinions. Best of luck.

  • A possible way to reduce the occurrence of the boils:1. Take an antibiotic as soon as you know you have one. This will help your body fight the infection and perhaps reduce the severity of the infection.2. DO NOT pick at it. This is likely to make it worse. Go to the doctor. You might need an ENT Specialist to take care of it.3. Clean your nose at least once a day when you bathe. Use an antibacterial soap and gently wash the inside of your nose (taking care not to go too deep because that will give you a burning sensation).4. The last is probably the best way to clean out all the wy up in your sinuses: get a waterpik that has the reservoir that looks like a cup. Fill the cup with warm water with a tablespoon of sea salt and a pinch of baking soda. Shake or stir it up. Turn on the pik to low and insert in nose and hold it until water comes out the other nostril for five seconds. Remove the pik and let the water run out. Repeat on the other side. Repeat the procedure until you run out of water. Clean the pik and put away, always running clean water through the pik to clean out any salt residue. Blow your nose and expect much water to exit, including mucous. Lie down on the floor or bed and repeat after turning your head over to the other side. This will also produce much water that has accumulated in the sinuses. Repeat until all water is evacuated. If you do this each day, the chance of an infection starting is reduced.Good luck!
