Both knees have started to swell and ache. Lyme tests neg, arthritis test all neg, no gout or lupus. My feet may ache today and not tomorrow, then be so bad can harldy walk, mornings are very hard to get out of bed from stiffness, wake up with arm in severe pain from laying wrong. Any suggestions for tests that i should request or ideas as to what to ask?

  • I have same problem with my right foot, right shoulder, two sides of my legs, and my behind...it aches really bad and some morning it's so hard to get up. I have to limp around in the morning until Advil kick in. I was on Steroid for 12 days and the pain goes away but immediately after 12 days the pains come back again. I'm only 30 years old. I was tested for Arithis rheumo...it was both negative. Does anyone know my problem?

  • I have the same exact problem plus severe hip pain and muscle fatigue. it takes me about an hour in the morning until I can walk and some days I need to use a wheelchair. Doctors are treating it as RA even though I test negative. I've had the symptoms for almost a year, been to 3 different doctors and so far nothing. I find it strangely comforting that other people have similar symptoms although I wouldn't with it on anyone...

I just got back from the doctor and now he referring me to a Rheumatology even though I tested negative on Arthritis. I just call to see if I can make an appointment and the earliest that I can get is Dec 18. Golly. I'm planning to get pregnant soon and I want to make sure if my body is ok before i try. This is so horrible.

  • I know what you mean, I scheduled an appointment with a rhuemetologist 3 weeks ago, I still have 2 weeks till my appointment. They have given me pain meds, anti-inflammatories, etc etc. Guess what, nothing has worked. I have to take a really really hot shower in the morning just to straighten out my arm, my feet hurt so bad I crawl to the shower. I wake up in the middle of the night with my feet and arm burning because of stiffness. My middle finger looks like I'm being really rude because I can't bend it very well, and if I bump my middle finger joint on anything I think I'll puck. I don't know what I've got, but surely there's something that can be done. I'm sick of hearing you hurt because you're depressed. IM NOT depressed, tired maybe because I have such a full life with kids and work, but I'm not depressed. They keep telling me that so that they can physc me out and get me depressed so that they can then say they know what's wrong. Does anyone know if an infected tooth could cause reactions like this in your joints. I had a really bad toothache, but have had it taken care of, I just wondered if the infection in my tooth could have anything to do with it. Although this has been going on for about 4 months this time around. I'm going to see a massage therapist thursday. Maybe that will help.

  • I go to a rheumatologist every 6 weeks and a hematologist/oncologist every 4 weeks. I have no implants of any kinds. The infection could be what triggered your condition jonesx7, it may be septic arthritis http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/000430.htm Originally they thought a knee injury caused my condition(even though I don't actually remember injuring it, I just woke up one morning and it hurt after a normal work out). I was getting massages every few weeks for a while and it helped for a short while but it just got to be too expensive for me to do as more than a once in a while thing. Best of luck to everyone here.

Although this has been going on for about 4 months this time around. I'm going to see a massage therapist thursday. Maybe that will help. It was my lucky day today. I got an appointment tomrrow with a Rhuemotalogist because someone cancelled out. Thanks Heaven. I want to find out what is wrong wtih me. I pray that I don't have RA ( Rheuatoid Arthritis). I had an emotional breakout last night just reading about this Chrontis disease. I'm scared because I feel that if i do have RA, it will be life changing for. I have plan to get pregnant soon. I am a very active person. I want to exercise again because the weight is packing up after I took the 12 days steroid. My life is slowly changing because i can see it effecting my family life. I get so easily irritated with my family because i'm in too much pain. I can't walk long. Last night after sitting for awhile, I stand up and almost literally fell. Felt like my legs couldn't support me. I almost drop my son. I'm very scared. I hope this is just something temporarily.

What i don't understand is that if we are tested negative on RA so why are we getting treated for it??? So you can still get it even though you tested negative. Make no sense right? I forgot to add, that have major hip pain...What do you take for the pain? Advil seems to kinda work for right now..my doctor jsut prescribed a 600 mg of something to me. You have these symptoms for almost a year, how has it change ur lifestyle???? Do you still excercise?

  • I've heard B 12, once a day, cod liver oil, shark cartilidge, blah blah, take 4 ibuprofen, 2 hours later 2 tylenol, 4 hours later 4 ibuprofen, etc etc, that is the only way I can even function. I've also gotten short tempered because of the pain, don't want to do anything but absolutely neccessary things, and I thought about working out, but I think you have to be able to bend your parts before that would work, so that leaves that out. I've been tested for RA, negative, so I've told them their not treating me for something I don't have, whats the point, I guess I'll see what the specialist says on the 14th. Hopefully I'm not to short tempered that day, he may get an earful if they try the guinea pig approach.Jonesx7(karla)

  • I tried the cherry extract, it didn't do anything for me but it certainly didn't hurt. I'm 27 years old, im taking methotrexate, plaqunil, enberel, prednisone, folic acid and alternate between ultram and darvocet for pain depending on the severity. I got to the point where the advil stopped working unfortunately. My lifestyle has complete changed. I can't exercise anymore, I need a cane to walk further than a few feet and on days where my hips are REALLY bad I use a wheelchair. The thing that sucks about the wheelchair is because of my hands I really can't push it very well with my arms so I need someone to push me. In the last few weeks, I've kind of lost my ability to go up and down stairs so I've been sleeping on the couch lately and maybe making it into my own bed once or twice a week on weekends when my wife is around to make sure I don't fall down the stairs and crack my head. If it wasn't for my wife putting up with me and all these problems, I don't know how I would have made it this far. I'm a computer programmer so at least I don't have a job that requires too much physical activity but I DID have to modify the way I type with the weird finger thing going on.I don't know about anyone else but my symptoms started in one leg and spread to the rest of my body fairly quickly, like within a few weeks. Did anyone else experience that?

  • This a result from my visit to the Rheumotalogist: I'm diagnosed with chronic disease called Psoriatic Arthritis. What Is It?Psoriatic (sore-EE-AA-tick) arthritis causes pain and swelling in some joints and scaly skin patches on some areas of the body. It is related to the skin condition psoriasis. What Are the Symptoms?About 95% of those with psoriatic arthritis have swelling in joints outside the spine, and more than 80% of people with psoriatic arthritis have nail lesions. The course of psoriatic arthritis varies, with most doing reasonably well. Symptoms include: Silver or grey scaly spots on the scalp, elbows, knees and/or lower end of the spine.Pitting of fingernails/toenailsPain and swelling in one or more jointsSwelling of fingers/toes that gives them a "sausage" appearance. What Causes It?The cause is not yet known. It may be partly inherited and environment might play a role. How Is It Diagnosed?May involve X-rays, blood tests and joint fluid tests.Treatment Options Skin careLight treatment (UVB or PUVA)Corrective cosmeticsMedications: glucocorticoids, NSAIDs, DMARDs (disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs) such as methotrexate, sulfasalazine, gold, cyclosporineExerciseRestHeat and coldSplintsSurgery (rarely)I guess i'm sad that i'm diagnosed with this disease because I feel i'm too young but then again, God worked in a mysterious way. I have to prolong my pregnancy plan till I get better, prolly 2-3 years later. I should ongoing treatment next month hoping to stop the progression. Hope this help.

  • Glad you at least got a diagnosis and I hope the treatment helps. I've been on the RA treatment since January and taking the biological agent since June and so far it hasn't really slowed down my progression, if anything, I'm worse in my hips.I spoke to my rheumatologist yesterday and after reviewing my newest xrays she thinks my hips are permanantly damaged so I have to make an appointment to speak to a orthopedist and discuss options. I feel like im kinda young for a hip replacement but at this point but if it means I can use the stairs again and walk from my car to my desk without wanting to die I'm all for it.

  • My husband is having severe joint pain. His doctor thinks it is a reaction to Crestor which he takes for high cholesterol. He went off the Crestor over a week ago, but still no improvement. Other drugs can cause this pain, so check with your pharmacist or doctor.
