2 years ago i developed red, oozing sores on my penis and the Dr. took a swab but was 95% sure it was herpes just from the visual. When i call to the the results all i was told was "positive", herpes was not specifically mentioned. I have not had the sores anymore but my penis is still sensitive all of the time and i feel a burning sensation most days. Just wondering how common misdiagnosis is and if i should get a second test to confirm.

  • You can assume that you have it. The "positive" on an open sore is quite accurate.

  • Found out i have herpes 1, which typically is the oral herpes virus. Is oral sex the only way herpes 1 can affect the genitals?

  • No, a woman could have herpes 1 in their genital area and give it to you that way. Either way, herpes is herpes once it on your genitals it's genital herpes. How did you just find out which brand you have?

  • There is no point in thinking what it might be, it will be better if you visit a doctor. I will suggest you to try a treatment from some skin specialist. It will help more than anything else. Some times people have such burning sensations even on the normal skin. It might be due to some other reason too. Don’t waste time in thinking about it. Precaution is always better than cure. Many medicines are available in the market even for herpes.
