Lower leg pain while sleeping

My left leg on the outside of the calf muscle always feels cold. At night I wake up because of the awful pain in that muscle. I do have sciatica caused by spinal stenosis but this occurs in the right leg. My doctor says that this new pain is caused from my spine but I am not too sure about that. I do have a varicose vein down the back of my left leg but my doctor says that it is not the cause. Any suggestions would be welcome!!
