UTI gone but still some symptoms- what's wrong?

Test showed my UTI had gone after three month and two doses of anitbiotics. However I've still got vaginal dryness and urinary pain after eating acid foods two months later. This has only slightly improved. Any ideas what's wrong?

  • Have you been checked for VUR (Vesicoureteral reflux)? Also, has your physician ruled out a yeast infection? Several women develop yeast infections after being on antibiotics.

  • I had a very similar problem recently....first as you found out, stay away from the acid foods for a while...grapefruit and such...I also felt lots of irritation after the UTI and very uncomfortable and the doctor gave me overactive bladder medication which seemed to help. Also please note that hormonal changes (like perimenopause age 35 and up) and menopause with dropping or fluctuating estrogen can cause this....you may want to be tested for ovarian hormones and see your GYN....and yes, I also had similar problems that ended up being a yeast infection, too...again GYN.
