Hello everyone,

I need your advice on what you think I have and how to fix it

I know the signs of UTI's. I get them all too frequently (my last one was in February 08, before that was December 07, October 07, September 07-you get the drift)

When I was in middle/high school I got persistent UTI's for about two years. I would get them one day (the trouble peeing would do it for me) and then take the medications for it, and then right after I'm cured it would come right back. I was hospitalized in February 2004 for a Left Kidney Infection due to the long-lasting UTI's.

My problem today is I come concerned and need your opinions

I recently about two weeks ago started having trouble urinating. I didnt think anything of it, but bought two whole things of Cranberry Juice and drank them down-still had trouble peeing-then came the cloudy urine (It looks orange with a whitish tint) and the unbearable paid afterwards. No blood in the urine yet though. Then the naseua and vomitting came about-I thought I was pregnant so I took a test-I'm not then this morning at around 2:35 am, I woke up in unbearable pain in my left side (left-flank pain) in my mid-back around my waist line. I still have the pain there-but sitting in certain positions seem to help temporarily-but I still feel like I need to pee every five minutes and then when i get there-I cant. No fever today-but I had a low grade one of 99.3 the other day-I could still have one-but I feel fine. Although-the back pain also came about with diareeah (I ate mcdonalds last night late-thats what I think caused it)

My Question is:

Seek medical advice?

UTI or Kidney Infection?

Follow Up with Specialist?

any help is appreciated

p.s. I dont have health insurance and so I dont have a PCP also

  • I just finished with a UTI and I was on antibiotics for a week. Then I was retested becasue I still had the symtpoms. Turned out that the infection had indead cleared up but for some reason eveything was still stimulated down there. From the Urologist I got pills for overactive bladder and a week of that seemed to have cleared it all up...so far;). I can REALLY sympathize ...those infections are so uncomfortable....:(:(:( These infections can develop into more full blown kidney or bladder infections (fever can be a sign it is going that way) so I would advise out of pocket visit to Urologist or GP even some GYN can take care of this (get recommendation from a friend as to who in your area is good) and get the urinary test...hopefully that wouldn't be too expensive...but alternative stay in the hospital would be worse if you don't take care of it soon. Meanwhile I guess you know the self-help...plenty of water, no caffine or sodas or sugary drinks and hear the cranberry (without all the sugar in it!) can work well....and do go to the doctor....hope you will be feeling better soon, Joan

  • Sorry, I couldn't say, but it could be bladder, urinary, or Kidney, ...I think if you look up on kidney infections you see the nauseau and vomiting and that is cause for real concern...but look it up as I am not a doctor! In any case, get to the docs...you must be so uncomfortable...go and call now...not worth worrying about it or the possibility of getting worse......I know that feeling! Joan

  • What is lactobaccilus (spelling )I took a home urinary tract infection test called AVO Test Strips for UTI's and it tests for white blood cell counts and something else (forgot the name) but it turned purple and pink which means I have a UTI according to them, but I dont have health insurance so what now?

  • perhaps there is a community health clinic....sometimes even at malls there are docs that charge minimal...you need antibiotics...show this results to the doctor and try to get them...also try asking at a pharmacy what or who they recommend ...Joan

  • I also have had reocurring uti/kidney infections, however the flank pain can also be a kidney stone and will only hurt when it is moving. believe me I have been through this as well many times the most current was the week of Christms this year.I recommend seeing a urologist.RamonaHello everyone, I need your advice on what you think I have and how to fix itI know the signs of UTI's. • I am having back pain problem from last 6 months. some times it get severe and i can not sleep at night due to the pain. One of my friend suggested to check for kidney stone, and his doubt was true. I had around 2mm stones in both of the kidney. When i searched on the internet about this, i found article for symptoms that distinguishes backpain and pain due to kidney infection.

  • i see it`s UTI because frequency or your need to pee every 5 minutes it`s lower urinary tract symptoms so you should do culture & sensitivity for urine & urinary sonar to exclude presence of urinary stones .but you should begin taking anti biotic like Ciprofloxacin then plz see Doctor for your personal benefit thanks

  • I currently have a UTI. I went from feeling fine this morning to full blown passing blood clots by 6pm. It spread very quickly and freaked me out a little so I can understand your pain.Honestly, vomiting and nausea and fever are typically signs of a Kidney infection. I am not a Dr. tho, so I wouldn't go based on my opinion. I do work at a pharmacy so I see this occasionally. I recommend seeing a Dr., paying for the visit and get formally tested. If they perscribe meds, it will most likely be Ciprofloxacin 500mg, which actually isn't very expensive. They usually prescribe a 7day cycle, but mine was so severe, I was given a 10day cycle. Anyway, it may be worth the money to get it checked out. Infections can be very bad, even lethal, if left untreated.

  • Hey I'm a teenager and I am on my 3rd antibiotic for a UTI ....... I have been to the doctors office 3 times in the passed 6 weeks ......... I went to the doctors tuesday and they are now telling me they don't know wat exactly is wrong me ....... The doctor told me to pee in a cup and he said that there are close to no red blood cells and there r a lot of white blood cells ..... This is weird because I had just gotten off my period that morning ....... The doctor also said that I have some kind of liver enzyme (I don't remember the name) in my urine ............ The doctor said that he wanted to run some more test and for mt mom and I to go home and he would call us and let us know wats going on ......... That was 4 days ago ...... We figured that we would get a call within about a day ....... We haven't heard anything from the doctor ....... And from wat the doctor is explained from my urine test ..... He made it sound like cancer ........ So not hearing from doctor is really starting to scary me ................. My back is starting to hurt a good amount of the time along with my abdomen .......... So does anyone have any insight on wat u think is wrong and maybe give me some peace of mind ......... Any advise would be highly appreciated ........... Thank u
