  • Yes I have this same thing too, with mine I get severe pain also. Nobody knows what it is for me and i've seen 9 docs. I went to a hair specialist and she is sending me to a Rheumatologist. How is your health outside of the scalp condition? Do you have any other problems? Mine started when my son was I think 6 mos old

  • I've had the same thing on my head for a few years now AND I have Rheumatoid Arthritis. My Rheumatologist doesn't know what this is so I was curious if you ever went to see one, and if so, what did they say?

  • I have to same hair and scalp problem. I has lasted almost a year now. I have been to a bunch of different doctors and they all say different things- alopecia, stress, and some don't even see a problem. I don't have any other health problems. The only thing I can think of was that I got pregnant about 2 months after the problem began and then I had an abortion. Also, I take aderrall. I really want to know what this is and how to treat it.

I went to a dermatologist at Hershey Med center and she told me to use Rogain foam for men. She also said it was happening because i had children.

  • mine started about 5 months after having my second child. i thought at first it was the normal shedding that most women experience after childbirth. but my hair kept falling out and my scalp turned red. it looks like i have a really bad sunburn. my doctor thought it was from stress and trauma from my c-section, but its been almost two years now and i'm still dealing with this. i have had 2 scalp biopsies and they have come back normal. i have also had every blood work done and everything is normal, including my thyroid. i'm so tired of dealing with this. anyone have any new answers?

My Rheumatologist doesn't know what this is so I was curious if you ever went to see one, and if so, what did they say?May want to have your Rheumy do a little reading up on Rheumatoid Arthritis. Hair loss and red scalp are a sadly one of the many symptoms of the disease. http://www.webmd.com/rheumatoid-arthritis/guide/rheumatoid-arthritis-complications has a fairly decent overview of the many 'many' complications that arise from the illness. Sadly the rashes included also affect the scalp, as do many of the medications that treat the illness itself. Went from having waist length hair 2 years ago to having to breakdown and shave my head and go w/a wig for now. G/L to you all Make sure they keep up on your folic acid and iron lvls, as the medications used to treat the illness affect both of these and can cause problems w/hair loss also.

  • When there is redness, the first thing to do is consult a specialist. Ask around for the BEST one and be ready to pay for it. The hair is our crowning glory so it has to be taken cared of.
