Hi, I'm a 17 year old girl and I need some help!
I have been having severe chest pains, that become more intense when I take a deep breath. My hands and feet become icy cold. I have loss consciousness many times. I also have headaches, extreme nausea, dizziness, fainting, shortness of breath, sweating, difficulty breathing when doing activity ( going up the stairs, slicing a bread, etc.), sharp pains in my hands, arms, legs, jaw, neck, loss of memory, difficulty concentrating, fatigue, huge cravings for salt and water, and have been having digestive problems.

My echocardiogram came back normal and my thyroid is normal. After doing the test for hypotension, it came back Positive. My cadiologist prescribed Florinef that I took for three months but I had a reaction to the medecine: my hands and feet became swolen, my nausea became so bad I had to take Gravol everyday, I did a lot of water retention... After that my doctor took me off the Florinef and juste said that I should go see a psychologist, wich is very frustrating because I know this is not due to stress, or depression, etc. I find it dissapointing that because of my age, doctors have a tendency to think it's due to emotional problems.

Plus 3 years ago I went to the Emergency because of severe stabbing pain in my chest. they said I had liquid in my lungs and the envelope of my heart was swolen. They gave my anti-inflamatories and sent me home.
I know the mother of my father had the same symptoms when she was my age and they never found why, and my father has severe sleep apnea and an irregular heart beat.

Please help ! I'm becoming desperate to find an answer because my symtpoms are affecting my life, physically and emotionally.

  • It could be you might have porphyria.... it can be a genetic disease (8 kinds of porphjyria are known) and can cause many of the symptoms you have mentioned. You should get checked out for it; if you have it you can get much better by avoiding the triggers that cause attacks for you. Common triggers for porphyria attacks include:1. dieting, wt. loss, low carb diet/high protein diets (avoid atkins)2. hypoglycemia attacks3. medications, alcohol, supplements, some herbs, some spices4.infections/illness5. hormones6.stress7 sunlight (some kinds of porphyria)8. certain foods Unfortunately porphyria is a Zebra disease, Supposedly rare, but is probably under diagnosed. Many people out there do carry a gene for it and never have an attack triggered. I will highlight the symptoms that you have in red that might be porphyria related. The purple symptom sounds like a heart inflammation... maybe you had a virus then. • I wrote this post for another young woman who also is having health problems that seem like porphyria.... http://forums.wrongdiagnosis.com/showpost.php?p=86103&postcount=2 Check out the links... Keep in mind you can have porphyria and some other illness at the same time also. Some illnesses have a connection to porphyria. Hang in there.... things can get better. If it is porphyria you can manage it and do things to limit the attacks. Do you drink?Do you take any meidcations or street drugs?Do you smoke?Birth control?(all can be possible triggers) tdwi Hi, I'm a 17 year old girl and I need some help!I have been having severe chest pains, that become more intense when I take a deep breath. • You had an attack of pericarditis (the stabbing chest pain). Here are some things to look up.Systemic inflammatory disorders. These may include lupus and rheumatoid arthritis.Trauma. Injury to your heart or chest may occur as a result of a motor vehicle or other accident.Other health disorders. These may include kidney failure, AIDS, tuberculosis and cancer.Certain medications. Some medications can cause pericarditis, although this is unusual.Look up medullary cystic disease. I typed in "pericarditis, salt craving". One of the symptoms is low blood pressure. There is also a strong genetic component involved. Also look up lupus.

  • Im thinking that you could have chronic fatigue syndrome as it can give one all the symptoms you list. It is completely normal to have hypotension with it and activities will make your symptoms flare up (eg you say you get breathing issues on climbing stairs, cutting bread etc). Ones with CFS have been known to have heart inflamation involved too (in fact that was a cause of death of one with CFS. I strongly suggest you read http://www.cfids-me.org/cfscc/cfsacf05.html (death thou is rare with it so dont panic). CFS also has a genetic predisposition.. I have CFS and I too pass out at times with it. The salt craving is probably due to the hypotension, i suspect you also have POTS (Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome or NMH...can cause passing out esp if standing)... CFSers are often advised to increase salt intake to help with it. (and most CFSers are sensitive to meds! and end up getting bad reactions from them) You may need to find a CFS specialist.

  • If you still check your mail, like Blaze, i suspect Lyme, or YOU REALLY HAVE THE SYMPTOMS, of a mercury intoxication. Do u have amalgams fillings? the grey one??? Did u take it off? (without the dentist take precautions) Amalgams fillings contains 50% of mercury that goes in your body and organs every seconds. Some people react, other no, but this is not recognize by doctors or events normal dentits, except an hollistic dentist, who prevent about mercury...If you want to know, you must find an environnemental doctor who will check. She'll can check for lyme and for mercury. If it's mercury, she will detox you with a chelator (a product that fix to heavy metal and bring it outside) Don't talk about it. Everybody will thaink youre crazy. But there's so many cases...Try to find an environnemental doctor in your regionor not too far and do this...It could be that...If not, lyme disease is a chance, i'm in this situation too.Chronique fatigue is not a diagnostic, what you want to know is the cause, there is. Something do that to u, to me too. Don't think you're crazy...xx

Please follow link - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_degree_heart_blockI collapsed one night at work 4 times! Please don't worry though, there are many atheletes, etc. that live completely healthy lives with little to no side effects... one side effect is "collapsing" though... when you feel you might collapse, get low to the ground, take deep breaths and try to relax. Easier said than done, I know.... personally.

I'm becoming desperate to find an answer because my symtpoms are affecting my life, physically and emotionally.I am wondering if you ever had Gardasil vaccine? Many of your symptoms seem typical with many of the girls who have suffered adverse effects from Gardasil. You have been sick ever since- it seems like- if you took this vaccine in 06/07 about the time it came out- you faint and have blood pressure issues ( dizzy, fainting, heart issues) you are being told it is in your head because lab tests come out ok- this is a typical issue for ALL of the girls except those who passed within the three months of having taken 1-3 of the shots. Your aches and pains are typical - rheumatoid, reactive or juvenile arthritis. Digestive issues- Celiac's Disease - from the arthritisyou emotional issues: depression, anxiety, frustrations, from the poisons alsoit is NOT in your head- I would seriously be SHOCKED if you have never had this vaccine. If you did take the vaccine then go to yahoo groups and ask the moms for help - they have been struggling with the care of their girls since the last three years and can help you emotionally, and diet-wise. You can see what they are trying to do to get results. Google letstalkaboutgardasil and truthaboutgardasil hope you feel better and get better soon- much love to you P.S. please go to VAERs and report your adverse reactions
