Coughing. Phlegm, and Running

I don't run too much, but I'm not overweight at all. I only run for school or if I really have the urge to. If I haven't ran in a while and I run a mile, afterwards I cough if I breathe in too much and I get phlegmy while I run. It stops after I get used to running after a few days. Is this normal? Is it just an occurrence from not running/doing cardiovascular that takes a lot of air?

  • It sounds normal to me, but if you are concerned about it, see your doctor. When I used to run I coughed too. I also had a metallic taste in my mouth. I don't think it's anything to worry about. But again, you know your body best, and if you think that there is something wrong definitely see your doctor.
