I hope someone reads this that can help me! For a year my son has been rubbing his eyes. We thought that it was allergies so we put him on Zurtec and gave him eye drops. We gave him a full allergy panel test (stuff on back and blood panels) and it all came back negative. Progressivley it has been worsening - now every 22 seconds or less he presses on his right eye - fairly hard - because he says his eye itches, burns / hurts. The eye doctor saw him and said his vision is perfect, and she thinks it is a habit. We tried the ignoring it and it is worsening daily. It is horrible to watch. He is having trouble concentrating in school and is in pain all of the time. He is now also complaining of headaches. Our pediatrician does not know what to do... neither do we... so I am searching for a cause/reason/cure. Please write back if you have heard of anything similar. Thanks - Oh my son is six years old.:)

  • Look up tics (not ticks). Sick house syndrome? Black mold?Did you go to a pediatric opthalmologist? His vision might be fine, but there might be something going on in back of the eye. I'm thinking CT, or MRI, just to make sure. Does he do it in his sleep? When he is anxious?

Yes I have been thinking that there might be something going on behind his eye. He had a growth on his right temple that was an inch in diameter I think it was a cyst - when he was three. I wonder if he might have a growth behind his eye too. I need to ask the doctor to do an MRI! Yes he does it in his sleep... and more so when he is anxious.

Yes there is a history of allergies with my husband. We had him tested for the allergies and everything has come back negative. His headaches hurt he said above his eyebrows.

  • I use a kantek radiation screen working on the computer. Without it, my eyes burn so much and I end up rubbing and rubbing...now, how much time does he spend, both at school and at home, on the PC? And...even with the screen, my eyes will still react if I have a long day with the PC...
