Swollen sternum

My 15 year old son has a swollen sternum. He is feeling no pain or discomfort but it is obvious that his sternum bone is pertruding out of his body. The bone is hard and a very unusual shape on his right side of his chest. ANy ideas?

  • Sternum's can be fractured. Tell your doc to order a sternal xray + probably a chest xray wouldn't hurt also.

  • hi, im 16, and im dealing with the same problem, i got hit in my chest area pretty hard about 4 weeks ago, and my sternum swelled up, its been like that for 4 weeks, but i havent been feeling much pain, should i go to my GP?
