  • Stop wearing your contacts immediately and go see an eye doctor. If you have an eye infection, you can scratch your cornea if you continue to use them. This may cause you to not be able to where them for a long time. My sister in law did this and she had to quit wearing them for a year. Are you replacing your contacts often as directed? "Pink Eye" (conjunctivitis) is very contagious and you can pick it up anywhere like the grocery, etc.

  • Are you kids using the computer a lot. The radiation/glare may be causing you problems. Have mom invest in a fine radiation screen. But sounds like you need some eye drops from the doctor. You need to monitor the eye pain and if it doesn't get better, you then need to see an eye doctor/specialist.

  • Hello, I'm almost 20 years old, and I have been having problems with my eyes recently. Around a month or so ago, I started noticing that my eyelids and below my eyes became puffy. I thought this was from constantly taking off all the make up I wear every day. Eventually, it looked as though some skin was peeling around my eyes. It was not pink eye, because my actually eye ball was fine. I stopped wearing make up, and switched to my glasses as soon as these symptoms started occuring. About two weeks later, my dad was also having some of the same symptoms, but it seems since then his has disappeared. Every night I take my makeup off, with a oil-free make up remover by MaryKay (good product). Yesterday was an upsetting day, and I did cry a little bit but not for too long. I went to bed last night (April 14) and when I woke up this morning (April 15) my eyelids are puffy and swollen. Its like the roll of my eyelid is bout to drop over my eye. The actual eye does not hurt. I switched back to my glasses right away. I am not having problems seeing and my eye doesn't hurt. My actual eyelid doesn't hurt, it's jsut red and puffy. I was in New York on Saturday April 12, and I'm thinking I could have been allergic to something in the city, since I'm from the country. I put ice on my eyes right away this morning. I am also very stressed. Does anyone know what this possibly could be? And, what I should do? I have had pink eye numerous times in the past but from my experience, I don't think this is it. If someone could give me their opinion I'd greatly appreciate it.Thank you!Sorry it's so long!

This would point more to an allergic reaction - could be from smog, or from your contact lenses or from makeup/other... Do you have crusty eyelids? Could be blepharitis, an inflammation of the tear ducts. I found I just couldn't wear contact lenses, my eyes rejected them every time...I cannot wear mascara anymore either - too irritating. I have blepharitis on occasion. Try warm compresses and see if this helps. Green Tea is excellent for the eyes - just use a warm teabag as a compress. Kukicha (twig) tea is even better for this, if you can find it! Try washing eyes VERY gently with johnson's baby shampoo. Go to the doctor and get a proper diagnosis if irritation continues.Best wishesDOM

  • thank you so much! No they do not water, but after I take my makeup off, I do tend to rub them. They do not bother me at all, even all day of having make up on. I get ready around 9ish every morning and keep that makeup on for at least 12 hours. I've worn makeup since I was 14, and never had a problem with it. And I switched mascara around 2 years ago and haven't had a problem with it. They aren't crusty, but there is dried skin that like flakes off. I don't think I have a reaction to the makeup because I've used the same products too long without a problem. So you just put the tea bags on my eyes!? And will the swelling go down!?! I'm hoping so. Do you think it's best to keep off of makeup for a bit??? Thank you again, your a great help.

Yes stop using any makeup whatsoever around your eyes....if you have a bacterial infection you will continue to reinfect the eyes if you continue to use the products you were using. If it were me, I'd throw away the whole lot and start back up again ONCE my eyes had cleared up with a new batch of products...just to be sure you are not causing reinfection. Also, please know that you can get an allergy at any time to anything, even to things you have used for many years. Research a technique called NAET - it helps reduce allergies. www.naet.com Just use the teabags as a compress. Lie down and relax for 20 minutes or so and let the teabags soak in. If you notice this doesn't help or actually makes things worse, then discontinue. IME it is VERY soothing!Glad to help. Best wishesDOM

  • Oh awesome, Thank you. When this first start happening with a little bit of redness, I did throw away that tube of mascara and get a fresh one. I will have to do that once again. Do you think this has anything to do with stress? I'm in college and with classes winding down within 2 weeks and alot of commitments going on, I rarely have 20 minutes to lay down before I pass out at 1AM. I'm going to research the website again. Once again, thank you for your help. I am now stressing bout this too. It really is embarrassing because my eyes are red and I haven't gone in public without makeup on for years! haha Thank you.

It is only my left eye and it is just the upper eye lid that is swelling. It is painful and kind of itchy and I need some help figuring out how to go about solving it.I woke up this morning and it is still swollen, please help.
