film on roof on mouth in mornings (any ideas?)

Does anyone have a diagnosis for the the following symptoms please ?

Every morning when i wake up I have a brownish coloured film formed on the roof of my mouth which i can physically scrape off with my finger nail and a rather pugnent taste to boot.

Upon waking (because it's so unpleasant) I have to rush to the bathroom to thouroughly clean my teeth and gargle with mouthwash. When i gargle the contents left in the sink are of a similiar brownish colour.

I'm 33 years old , male , do not drink or smoke and I'm in good health with no other health or well being problems. My teeth and gums are in good order. One thing I do notice is that within 5 minutes of laying down to sleep , my whole mouth (and lips) become extremely dry.

I'm pretty sure it's not gingivitis having read about the symptoms of that on here.
If anyone has any suggestions as to what this problem is I would be most grateful.

  • I also have the exact same symtoms. I was recently told I have Berger's disease and also need my tonsils removed. I am also 33 years old, healthy and non smoker/drinker. I'd like to know what is this film as well. When I wake I also have a very dry tongue and mouth... anyone?

  • I also have this as well.. I have been told my my ENT that it is acid from the stomach. Both my parents have Reflux, and they too deal with Morning yuckie awful tasting breath, and this film as well. I had no idea I had reflux, as I do not have the typical BURN in my throat, but after 2 weeks on prevacid, the film is mostly gone , very minimal compared to what it used too be, however I still have that yuckie taste in my mouth..just plain yuckie. Missy just tossing reflux out there :)

  • i have the same thing and i don't smoke or drink. my dentist told me it was due to sinus drainage and told me to take some type of decongestant over the counter. i thought it was weird b/c i don't have symptoms of allergies or colds but it makes sense. that stuff is disgusting katie

Do the test as follows and you will have a much better idea.
