1. Quit drinking soda. People always make the same mistake when they begin their weight loss program, they believe that the only thing that they have to give up is unhealthy foods, they don’t stop to think about the way soda can ruin their weight loss efforts. Some of us even resort to diet sodas, because we are told that they contain 0 calories.

But the truth is that they are even more dangerous than regular sodas. So here’s an idea: stop drinking them altogether and have home-made lemonade and freshly squeezed juice instead, they are much healthier and they will help you save about 43,000 calories a year.

2. Drink a glass of water before you eat. The idea behind this is that we often confuse hunger with thirst. So, by drinking a glass of water 20 minutes before a meal, you will quench your thirst, without dissolving stomach juice.

3. Eat smaller amounts, more times a day. By doing so, you will feel less hungry throughout the day, therefore you will eat less, which will keep fat burning and metabolism at a constant level. Just make sure that you have two healthy in-between snacks. For example, you can have boiled eggs, chicken breast and a salad. You can even have fruit or yoghurt afterwards.

4. Eat slowly. It takes our body a while, about 15-30 minutes to warn us that it’s full. So, in order to make sure that you won’t overeat, you have to eat slowly. This is very important if you are trying to lose weight. Make a rule out of chewing the food you put into your mouth at least 7 times, because this way you will give the enzymes in your saliva time to break it down before the food even reaches your stomach. This will ensure that you get the maximum amount of nutrients from every bite.

5. Start with breakfast. It really is the most important meal of the day, because it gives you energy to start the day and if you eat enough, you will not pig out later on. Otherwise, you feel hungry throughout the day, which will make you reach for unhealthy snacks in order to make that feeling go away. So, to make sure that you won’t cheat, have breakfast, start the day on the right foot!
