Questions about varicose veins? Really scared...

I am 14 with varicose veins on my buttocks and I figured it was from sitting too much and not walking and moving as much as I should. Also, lately I've been feeling a soreness in my legs (nowhere near my buttocks, really) in some specific areas. Near my ankle there is a greenish, bruise-like line that's maybe about one inch wide and one and a half inches long. There is also one of these on my inner thigh that starts from my knee. They don't bulge or anything (both look like bruises), it's just a minor discomfort every now and then... What should I do? Is this dangerous? As soon as I figured out I had varicose veins I freaked out and did everything I could to exercise my lower body. I swim freestyle and breastroke sometimes. I know walking and running help too. Any other recommendations? What foods should I eat? I tried massaging olive oil on it but I've only been doing this for a couple of days. Does anyone have any home remedies? Also, nothing else has happened so far... I mean, there have only been these veins on my buttocks and that's it, with no other symptoms other than the ones I've mentioned. Please reply, I'm very scared and anxious; answers would be very much appreciated!!

  • HI 14 :) I am 47.. and have had a few varicose veins on my butt too. They are annoying and hot n itchy.. First of all, I will tell you .. it's best if you calm down. (like great advice i should take) and secondly, I have a blood clotting condition.. (genetic) called Factor 5. I clot too quickly. I'm sure that is something to do with it. I notice when I am going to start a period or wear anything restricting.. or sit in a certain way where i'm dangling my legs or pushed up against something hard when sitting.. (like in a car? or gaming chair or standing for hours in kitchen) that i get them. Of course I have them severely but maybe you might have that genetic factor 5? It's an easy test to have done. Or maybe you are just getting them because they're normal to get as you go through hormonal cycles. Don't worry so much if you can help.. stress only makes everything worse. Do you wear knee high stockings? just from the sound of ankle and knee.. i was thinking maybe your socks got too tigh
