My Cousin Just Died A Week Ago From A Pulmonary Embulism, She Was Only 38 Years Old. Does This Run In The Family? Or Is It Just A Horrible Unexpected Death That Can Happen To Anyone Any Time.

  • My healthy husband had a PE at 38.. What saved him was he was in such good physical shape prior to the PE.. He was mis-diagnosed twice told it was muscle spasms due to coughing , the next time he was told pluoresy ... 3rd time lucky, by this time he couldn't walk and his calf and thigh muscle were the same size .. The lady that did the ultrasound said that in 18 yrs of doing the job she had never seen one as big.. After many tests it was diagnosed as 'idiopathic' meaning they didn't know what caused it.I believe in my heart of hearts it was a combination of a long haul flight, a series of 4 hr drives.. and a lot of stress that was happening .. 'A perfect storm'The reason I say this was that 4 years later the same thing happened only this time we knew the symptons and after the second visit to ER I informed the recepionist /triage nurse we weren't up here for fun and we don't make a habit of visiting the ER.. I demand that they do a ultrasound on my hubbies leg.. If they don't and something happens I'll sue .. Amazing how that works to get the treatment deserved. Now if your Cousin, had a long haul filght or was sedentary for a prolonged period that could be a cause.. Not just the usual that are in the text books.

  • Blood clots are a possible side effect of birth control pills. This can cause PE if not checked by a doctor...you would have to know what to look for and that bc pills can cause this problem...other meds can cause clotting problems as well. If you are on bc, and have a sore area in your calf that does not go away, please get an ultrasound. Best wishesDOM
