Period cramps but no bleeding, 5 days late

Hi everyone,

I recently (around 3 months ago) stopped using the birth control pill. I noticed that my last 2 periods both came around 2-3 days late so decided to really take notice of when my next period arrived to see if I maybe have a 30 day cycle instead of the average 28 (while on the pill I had a very regular 28 day cycle). Anyway I am now on day 33. I have been having cramps since day 27. I usually start having cramps the day before my period so expected it to arrive but it so far hasn't. I decided to quickly look up what might cause cramps but no period, and pregnancy came up quite a lot. I had already ruled this out as me and my boyfriend have been using condoms but I suppose they aren't always 100% effective. Anyway while skimming the results I realised another early sign of pregnancy is back pain which I have been suffering with for the past 2 weeks. I work as a nanny and so constantly bend down to pick babies up so I put the back pain down to that but the realisation suddenly hit me that it may be something else.
Is there anything else that it could be? Does pregnancy seem the likely answer?
Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Hey I'm having the same problem as you are. I'm 19, I stopped using Nuvaring about 3 months ago (February). I had a barley there period right after i stopped the ring, then in March, a normal 5 day period , the same went for April, a normal 5 day period (my boyfriend and i had protected sex a few days before this period then he left for a trip so we have no had sex since then), now it's the end of May and have still not gotten my period! I was suppose to get it on the 13th or 14th. I took a pregnancy test at home two days ago and it came back negative. I have no idea what's going on. I would suggest taking a few pregnancy tests at home. If it comes back negative i would set up an appointment with your doctor to see what's up. I'm going for my appointment in a week or so.

  • In your case, the biggest possibility is you are pregnant. Since cramps can also happen when you are during pregnancy. For the best result take a few pregnancy test from different brand to make sure about your condition.
