So my periods are usually pretty predictable, they come at between 21-24 days and last 3-4 days. A week ago I started spotting at 17 days. I immediately freaked out that it could be IB, which it was not because it got heavier by the end of the 2nd day and continued for 4 days like a normal period slightly lighter. However, how it started was not normal, usually a headache and cramping preceed, then heavy flow next day when i wake. This time just spotting, then a day later heavier bleeding. Now my period is over for 2 day and I started heavy brown smelly discharge. I never usually have any bleeding/discharge after it ends. By my calculations this would be the day my period was supposed to start. I've been having back pain for weeks. Now it seems all focused in my lower right back. Also was treated for ovarian cysts when I was in highschool. Have been to gyno several times in the years since then for pain, but they have never shown up again on ultrasounds. Was put on BC pill several times, but had horrible pain last time I was on so don't think that was any bit effective treating cysts or whatever else causes all my female problems, and don't really like the effect the pill has on my body. Not really keen on paying money to see a gyno again and get put back on the pill, when i'm sure given my history that's all they'll do.

By the way, I took a preganancy test this morning, just to ease my mind that last week was indeed not IB and that I did not have soemthing like ectopic pregnancy going on. It was negative.

Should I be concerned? Any thoughts what could be the cause?
