Grapesized bloodclot with large white tissue expelled

A few months ago, my parents were out, I was home along, and was having a shower, as I was having my period, felt a large pain, then expelled this thing which was thin but white in colour, quite long in diamater, however attached was a large grapefruit sized bloodclot, I presume the white thing was the part of the lining of the uterious but was surprised at the large size of it.

I have never had sex, I have never had a child, however I have been on the birth control pill for regulating my periods as the cramps were incrediably painful and prevented me from doing day to day activities eg if I didn't wear shorts and t-shirt I would regularily have fainting spells even in the middle of winter! Believe me in the middle of australian winter wearing shorts and t-shirt is not comfortable at all, often my period prior to this happening would be at least 7 days, with 1 or 2 days nothing in the morning nearing the end of my period, but would come back in the afternoon and I sweat like anything, and have pale skin.

However since this day, the cramps have dramatically subsided, the black mini clots are not has heavy, and I don't feel as faint during it?

Do you know what may have caused this?
